That makes the game much more fair and worth a look. DarayX has been in contact with the developers and they have confirmed that all classes can be earned in-game (see post further down the thread). Overall this is a nice looking card game which should have decent longevity and depth, though it might be a bit grindy for some. My previous post is below, though is now outdated. I preordered this, and might like it if it were not for the awful IAPs. The game advertises 6 playable classes, but only one is actually included. The rest cost real money (and 3 of those are not actually released yet). It feels dishonest that the game does not say upfront that you have to buy further characters, and without them it will have much less variety and longevity. To get the remaining 5 would cost $11.97 on top of the $0.99 asking price. A smaller issue is that the sound seems not to mute properly, but that could easily be fixed in a patch. Developers have a right to charge a fair price for their product, but this leaves a bad taste. It’s a shame: beyond the pricing issue there seems to be a nice game here. Gwarmaxx likes this. First of all, the app description is... bad. 6 heroes, but only 3 exist at the moment and all but one cost real money SHOULD BE in the description. Second, even for the one free character you get, there are Dream and Key packs as iap, so its unclear as to how balanced it will be down the road. I was waiting so long for this game, thinking it would go down the usual road of 1 eu entry price and 5-6 more to unlock all content. Too many iaps for me, sorry. ioso and Gwarmaxx like this. It just depends on how balanced it is. I mean yes, five characters would be $13 total. Pirates Outlaws with the booster and Admiral is $9. And IMO Pirates is still way too grindy to open content even with the booster. I don’t know what these “dream packs” are and if they are needed. And why on earth would you even want to buy a resurrection coin? This is a rogue like. You aren’t supposed to be resurrected. I’ll play with my initial $.99 investment with one character and see if it’s worth proceeding. I’d pay $13 for 5 characters if the game is balanced and those other IAPs don’t seem needed. I know Pirates has lots of defenders but I still don’t like it for being too much of a grind to unlock stuff. You’d pay substantially more than $9 if you want to unlock characters right away. Again, that’s just my opinion. I’ll see how this goes from playing it with just the first character and go from there. If the gameplay sucks, I’ll just lose $.99. And if it becomes clear those other IAPs are needed, I’ll also jump ship. There are plenty of other premium or nearly premium games in this genre. Just like Pirates has gold IAPs,, I won’t know if the dream pack IAPs are needed in this one unless I play it. I do agree that the store description is misleading regarding the characters. If this guy spent $20 on graphics, he got one hell of a bargain because if nothing else, this game easily has the best attack animations I’ve seen in this genre so far. As for the gameplay, I still am unsure, mainly because I still have not seen what these “keys” are used for. Mechanics are sound. Thought the cards seemed a bit generic at first but then started to get some pretty interesting ones. Battles are one on one Slay the Spire type so nothing new there. Got to the first boss (close battle) and lost so need to play more to see how the game progresses from there. Kind of like it so far though. Just need to see progression and the key use. Haven’t felt any need for IAPs yet (other than more characters) but doesn’t mean it’s not coming. L.Lawliet likes this. After playing around a bit I think there’s a decent game here. The graphics are pleasant and everything is polished, the only downside is that some of the card wording isn’t the greatest. The keys are for opening a chest that contains items for each character. You can buy keys for real cash or... each run you earn ‘dust’, my first run I earned 250 dust and it cost me 225 dust to buy one key. It seems the chests contain a limited amount of items, for example if it had 40 items, once you get all 40 items that’s it. It says you can buy the extra characters with this earned ‘dust’, but what it really means is the characters are in the chests, and you have to keep opening them randomly till you get them. There also appears to be a lot of achievements that reward dust too. That’s my take on it so far anyway. Seems pretty cool, not sure if it’s balanced enough to earn everything in the chests just by playing, but if it is I’ll end up buying the two available characters because obviously a lot of work has gone into this. Edit: My second run I made it up to the second Boss and died just before. I only received 50 dust. It took awhile too as the fights are slow and you can’t speed it up. All the iap could be earned by playing, you'll gain stardust after a run, which could be used to buy keys to open chest. Gladiator's key can unlock the second class, and the second class's key can unlock the third one. Opening a chest could give you different stuff including new class, even if you are unlucky, you are guaranteed to get the new class within 50 tries. I actually got the samurai class with my first Gladiator key. ThirdMoon, ramzarules and raravan like this. I imagine at higher difficulty levels the rewards would be greater, but at the moment the game offers tiny amounts of stardust for hours of your time. For example, I just made it up to the third boss and died. It took nearly an hour and a half and I received 80 stardust. If there is fifty items in the Gladiator chest alone, and each key cost 225 dust then... that’s just way too much to ask of a player. I would be happy to buy all the characters straight away with real cash, but the stardust rewards would need to substantially improve for me to continue playing the game. At the moment it’s like I spend ages playing and get little to no reward at the end which makes me want to delete the game. I also know that this exact argument has happened in the Pirate Outlaws thread, (similar game) but after playing that game further I found out that it was actually perfectly balanced (after you buy the 2x booster). This really is a good game that grows on you the more you play.
