It will appear a bit grindy in the beginning, but you will definitely find that the simple layers of gameplay will combine to give a reasonably complex strategy+luck game that has lasting potential and is just fun overall. 8/10. It’s somewhat Dungelot-y, in that you’re unlocking tiles on a grid almost minesweeper style. Each tile can be any number of things: an enemy, a trap, a potion, food, event and so on. Dying on a run tests your progress and gives you an identifiable item that is tied to your progression. Your character persists across runs, along with their level and equipped gear. The core loop so far has been: Enter dungeon, earn gems/gold, die, repeat the dungeon for a few floors. eaely feedback is that it’s not a bad game but: A) there’s not a shred of a tutorial... except one screen that proclaimed “tutorial” at the top but explained nothing. B) progression is not tuned well for the early game. Failed runs reward you with an item which costs gems to identify - gems are found in dungeons, but they are infrequent in the early levels. I’ve been selling the loot for coins, which are used to upgrade identified and equipped items. Since gold and gems are also used during runs (while praying at shrines, for example), I don’t have that many. For the record, before anyone asks, you cannot purchase either gems or gold with real money. I can tell that getting further will have better rewards, but so far it’s a slow start. Just early impressions for now, I’ll post more as I play more. Edit: Aaaand almost immediately I have to make an addition. Having spent some gold on improving my items made a tremendous difference to the length and consistency of each run. You can sell equipment before you’ve identified it, but is there a way to sell it after the fact? Once it’s been identified it just sits in my equipment list cluttering it up. Also, I have yet to find any gear ( so far) above “common” do you just find the better loot as you advance further? Echoseven Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Jul 19, 2011 6,091 270 83 The red Skittle #14 Echoseven, Mar 25, 2019 Oh it is damn hard. I’d recommend upgrading your weapon to 5 ASAP, because hitting for 15+ takes out the beginning enemies in one shot and helps tremendously. Higher rarity gear is given when your point scores increase. When you lose a run, on the summary there’s a little points bar with grey, green, purple dots and so on. If you exceed the minimum points, you get a piece of gear of that rarity. Best I’ve gotten so far was green from the first dungeon - uncommon. iconic Member Mar 27, 2019 6 3 3 Male Making games Saint Petersburg #15 iconic, Mar 27, 2019 Hey everyone! I'm the dev of Crossroads. Glad to meet all of you discussing the game here For the difficulty curve: we will make an update very soon with balance fixes (aiming to submit before next week). It will be much more smooth in the beginning. No more excessive grinding. For the music: yes, this is possible. We are a team of 2 devs thus we had to purchase music / sounds on websites like Unity Asset Store and so on. Hopefully one day we will hire a composer Thanks everyone for playing.
