I’ve opened it up and had a look around though and first impressions are wow, the artwork is honestly spectacular, the app itself is super polished and presented beautifully. I can see that there’s quite a bit of content and I’m genuinely excited about finding the time to play properly. Definitely happy with the purchase so far. Quoad Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2015 1,108 217 63 #8 Quoad, Jan 26, 2019 All of this sounds promising. Must say, my two hesitancies are the huge backlog of games I’m finally getting round to playing (Halcyon 6 mostly atm); and the knowledge that I’m terrible at persisting with (well, finding the time to crack, tbh) complex board games. Very interested tho. pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #9 pjft, Jan 26, 2019 Thanks. Looking forward to more impressions. What's holding me back (other than @Quoad's reasons which I kind of share as well) is that from the description it's not clear whether this is the full board game, but single player, or a smaller adaptation that's just meant to act as an introduction to the actual game. Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #10 Pitta, Jan 26, 2019 I’m on the third legend (which really ramps up complexity...first two legends are basically a tutorial) and it’s GLORIOUS. Possibly the best solo boardgame implementation since years, probably since Elder Sign: Omens. Game is really really good gameplay wise (very well suited to digital) and it looks stunning, the map really comes to life and the app is triple A polished. It’s crashy on iPad Air tough (I know from another forum the devs are on it and there should be a patch next week) but it plays wonderfully even on an iPhone X (doesn’t sync progresses tough). Did I mention it’s graphically stunning? Seems really simple at first but then a ton of interconnected things kick in...I’ve failed current legend several times already. UI is great imho. The story is different from the original boardgame, but I’m really liking it so far. Personally, I highly recommend this digital boardgame. Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #12 Pitta, Jan 27, 2019 Well the story is always the same, as are the quests so far (I’m still at third legend). You have the dice and ‘things’ position under the fog varies each time (maybe monsters position too, can’t remember) ...so you have that unpredictability...but as far as I see everything else is the same. Each legend has an hard mode too, which is really difficult. I died several times already on third legend so I can’t tell you really....you can’t play further if you don’t complete the actual legend. Each time I replayed the failed legend things were the same besides what I already mentioned, but I tried different strategies and things were different (but I still failed). You are on a time constraint for the quests (there is a doom track) and from third legend onwards complexity ramps up. CrayonWarrior Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Mar 9, 2014 212 14 18 Great southern land #13 CrayonWarrior, Jan 27, 2019 I think I’m on the next legend. You have to fetch the witch to heal the prince? You have to protect the castle, but not kill everyone. Preferably send only one hero out to get the witch, don’t worry about pushing your hero to the max, you can always use a wineskin. Getting health back isn’t hard either. Always gang up on the big guys and keep an eye on the arrows as to where the monsters go next. Love the game but there’s alot to take in. I’m not really fond of games that make you rush through the gameplay. Thanks. nkarafo Well-Known Member Mar 2, 2011 864 14 18 #15 nkarafo, Jan 27, 2019 Hello Pitta. If it's the same, isn't it already predictable and boring from the side of the story? I believe that when you have finished the legends, there isn't any other thing to do. For example Lords of Waterdeep that is different in gameplay than LoA, it may not have a campaign, but every game due to a large amount of cards that are included, is different. Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #16 Pitta, Jan 27, 2019 I mean, it’s a doom tracker like many other board games. It’s not real time, it’s turn based but every character can do so many actions within a day so you have to decide what to do carefully. Each legends have a fixed number of days, after that the quest is failed. Hope it’s more clear!!! Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #17 Pitta, Jan 27, 2019 Well...actually that is true for many tight story based board games. I didn’t find repeating (failed) legends boring at all, because there are a ton of ‘moving’ parts on the map depending on your actions, but ymmv. Not sure if in further legends there will be random quests events (can’t remember if there are in boardgame...it’s been a while) but for the price seems to me there is a lot of content. It’s very easy to expand the game with new legends (as the boardgame, which sells for outrageous prices on eBay). badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,886 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #18 badmanj, Jan 27, 2019 Just went to buy this but couldn't find in the UK App Store. Eventually found it under the name "Die Legenden von Andor". Now I'm reluctant to buy, in case I get a German Language version (also I don't really want the app named that on my home screen). Hope the team look in to fixing this soon... has anyone in the UK purchased, and if so did you get an English or a German version? Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #19 Pitta, Jan 27, 2019 Yes it’s the English version, it was a bug in the submission text. Actually the app is multi language. Another problem you might find (already patched in review) is that you read ‘strings’ instead of proper text. Just go to settings, select English, and go back, fixed. Quoad Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2015 1,108 217 63 #20 Quoad, Jan 27, 2019 Basically a campaign? I have no complaints about campaigns! Edit: to clarify, I think that’s me sold. Suspect I won’t grt too far - complexity tends to be a poor fit for my schedule - but sounds like the kinda app that id like to think I play, even if I never quite manage to do so. ZS77 likes this.
