I thought that games couldn’t be released without being optimized for the new phones? With the stupid nav bar, it’s insanely distracting and problematic when it covers up controls, like in DISTRAINT. No iPhone X support. The graphics look blurry. And blurry in a bad way. It is like the game is zoomed in even for the smaller screens. I did not even try to play the game. How could i? I see not amanita game here as far as visuals go. So yeah thank god for Apples return money policy already asked for a refund. My opinion. Stay away for those who have an iPhone X or bigger screens from this cr@ppy (port?) of a game. touchette and TheRealist82 like this. First off, the game does support the iPhone X (Xs in my case) screen. It just uses a more traditional aspect ratio and places support UI on the remaining space. It even has a nice artful border around the play area. Once you play the game, you can see why they went this route — every bit of real estate counts. Second, the only thing that looks blurry is the title, and that’s an aesthetic choice. I’m attaching a screenshot for reference — feel free to blow it up. Just started playing, and so far it seems charming. I do not care if a designer takes this route as far as design goes but for me it is a No. Now for the blurry part. I do not know if it is designed that way but for my tastes it looks ugly. So yeah everyone who wants to buy the game feel free to do so. I just wanted to make it clear that there are no technical or porting issues. You should only play a game if you like it, though. A quick note: one thing I’m enjoying is that the game makes it fun to make wrong choices. Like any adventure game, there’s a bit of trial and error, but this one rewards you for experimenting. In 15 minutes of play it made me laugh three times, and I definitely appreciate it. Do all games on the X screens need to comform to the new aspect ratio? Or can a developer choose a different aspect ratio on purpose, making sure that the full screen is used for UI etc? For some older games, full screen is not even an option — in that case, the solution SE came up with for FFT makes sense. But I can see a developer choosing a different aspect ratio for the play area for other reasons, including gameplay and aesthetics. As long as it’s done thoughtfully, as it is with this game, I don’t have a problem with it. I can see other points of view, though. andsoitgoes likes this.
