Put a lot of time into Fowlst last year and when I loaded up Super Fowlst I couldn’t have been more pleased. From the awesome little intro video, to the amazing artwork, it was apparent to me that Thomas Young poured his heart and soul into this. There are no forced ads, the IAP is for buying individual characters or you can just use the coins you earn from playing to unlock them. Pretty awesome pay model if you ask me. Since the characters don’t seem to do anything other than look super cool, I’m fine using the default character and possibly saving up for “OG Fowlst” after I’m done upgrading stuff. You can also watch an ad after you die to gain some extra coins. Again, totally optional. I loved the Downwell art style of the first Fowlst but this is so colorful. It looks 16-bit with layered backgrounds and the whole nine. It’s gorgeous in my opinion. The arenas have also gotten bigger. Instead of one room full of enemies you’ve got these big interconnected rooms (check the walls for secrets!). There are lots of environmental objects to interact with this time around as well. Stuff like pinball flippers, explosive crates and springboards can be used to your advantage in battle, or they might kill you if you suck. If you like portrait style arcade games, there’s a really good chance you’ll like this. I know I’m gonna be upgrading and killing the leaderboards for a long time. Lull4by likes this.
