Rocksaint Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2013 666 367 63 #7 Rocksaint, Aug 30, 2018 Hehe. Happens when there are so many exciting releases so close to each other. That too of similar genres. Easy to get them mixed up. Anyway, picked this one up. Seems nice. Looks good. Quest based progression. I just had two feedback:- 1. Game resets your current run if you kill the game or return to Main Menu. (I feel it shouldn’t) 2. If you have completed any quests during your run and force ended it before losing all hearts, when you return to the game, the in-progress quests are replaced by new ones. (Probably because you completed the previous ones) Still, it’s kinda confusing I would say. Either an in-game toaster that appears as soon as you complete a quest or my 1st suggestion which would solve this problem as well. Overall, great game. Keep up the good work guys. And congrats on the release. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,489 177 63 #8 vectorarchitekt, Aug 31, 2018 So what do you actually do? Rocksaint Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2013 666 367 63 #9 Rocksaint, Aug 31, 2018 Build up a forest/village to complete quests. There are hazards that appear randomly which you need to deal with either with water or your animal. You get currency to unlock new new animals and also there are 3 classes of animals with stats that can be upgraded. I would say it has good depth for a puzzle game. Looks gorgeous. And runs well as well. StratAll Well-Known Member Dec 24, 2009 160 17 18 #10 StratAll, Aug 31, 2018 I tried it on an iPad Air and it does not rotate to landscape. Portrait only. StratAll Well-Known Member Dec 24, 2009 160 17 18 #11 StratAll, Aug 31, 2018 A lot of the game and atmosphere rides on the exploration and finding out things for yourself. There's an Alto Odyssey like level system with 3 goals that do give you tips on what is possible. I'll describe gameplay in a spoiler section for those who want to know more. Spoiler You start on a grid of heaxgons where you basically have 2 actions : * raise one hexagon * scroll an entire column of hexagons one position up You have 3 hearts that count as your 'lives' and your score is measured in 'years'. Hexagons are empty or contain a variety of objects : * obstacles like fire, a monument, a factory,... that need to be dealt with or you lose hearts * landscape objects that are (for the moment, I'm up to level 4) created by combing groups * an animal that walks freely across your world moving from hexagon to hexagon You build your world by raising empty hexagons. This creates a lake in the hexagon you raise and grassland in all heaxgons around it. If you raise a grassland it becomes a tree. Groups of 2 to 5 trees can be raised to create a forest. This pulls the trees together to one hex and leaves the others to be reused or they get a flower grassland. Flower grasslands can contain wisps. They should be collected by your animal. Wisps can be used in between games to upgrade your animal in speed, shorter sleep time or respawn rate or unlock new animals. 2 forests can be combined in a town 2 towns become a city. The game elements comes from the fact that when you combine to forests or up, the world shifts one row down. The upper row becomes inaccessible and the lower row contains 2 to 5 new hexes, either empty or with obstacles on them. I did not get this at first from the tutorial, but making 2 tree forest only gives you 2 hexes in a new row, making 5 tree forest gives you a wider playfield of 5 new hexes. So build big forests to keep your options open. By shifting the world you can get your animal stuck behind trees or water and lose it at the top. It then respawns in a hex below, but after 5 to 8 turns, leaving you incapable of dealing with certain obstacles. There is no doubt more lurking behind level 4... dukat111 likes this. dukat111 Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2010 514 94 28 #12 dukat111, Aug 31, 2018 Thanks for the explanation, I was having a hard time figuring out the mechanics.
