The spiritual successor to King of Dragon Pass, Six Ages combines interactive stories and turn-based strategy. Your small clan’s survival depends on its relations with the warring gods and their followers. Play involves actions such as improving pastures, exploration, trading with your neighbors, and raiding. You can even travel to the Otherworld to visit your gods. You also need to deal with crises ranging from marauding dinosaurs to diplomatic requests to illicit love. Your choices have a politico-economic impact, but some consequences might not be obvious for decades. It’s set in Glorantha (the world of RuneQuest, HeroQuest, and 13th Age), where the laws of physics are subordinate to the whims of the gods and spirits. Six Ages is immensely replayable, thanks to over 400 interactive scenes with multiple outcomes. Short episodes and automatic saving mean you can play even when you only have a minute or two. The built-in saga writes down the story for you. And advisors with distinctive personalities help you track your cows. 148Apps: “… absolutely worth playing. … Six Ages uniquely weaves an astounding amount of of narrative, lore, and nonbinary decision-making into its gameplay that makes it feel truly unique and special.” Touch Arcade: “… if you want to get lost in a world full of meticulous details and gameplay that isn’t quite like anything else, you’ll want to hop on to Six Ages as soon as possible.” Pocket Tactics: “Six Ages holds a wealth of wonders few other games can match.” One of Rock Paper Shotgun’s top 100 PC games of all time: “All your choices create a curious and gnarled tree of a story … that is sometimes funny, and sometimes a little distressing.” Ben Silverman: “A heady mix of “Civilization” and a Choose Your Own Adventure game… Ridiculously deep and “just one more turn” addictive…” When you complete Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind, you can continue your clan’s saga in Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out. The game is completely accessible via VoiceOver. Bought the first one yearsss ago and played a bit and at that time still thought it was great but just other games got in the way. Since then I've read great things over and over about the first and the expectations for this one. Lots of good reviews out there. nenastya likes this. dukat111 Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2010 514 94 28 #5 dukat111, Jun 28, 2018 Picked up Six ages two weeks after getting Dragon Pass. Only got 30 minutes into Dragon Pass after spending 3 hours reading the manual. Six Ages is new and shiny so had to put down Dragon Pass to try it. Game mechanics/gods-magic/leader wheel, etc look just like Dragon Pass with enhancements/refinements. Feels like an upgraded version with a new story & location. I read somewhere that the game is much larger with something like 4x more events. Love the concept behind the game, hope to get time to play over the next few days, will report my experience. It's too small for me but I think for most decent on an iPhone X screen. iPad much more comfortable and can see more, but they did a surprising good job for small phone screens. Haven't had much time to play yet but I did the tutorial and like all the small enhancements to everything, looking forward to reading other peoples thoughts. curtisrshideler Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Jul 30, 2011 3,097 25 48 Male Video Producer/Editor Texas http://twitter.com/curtneedsaride #8 curtisrshideler, Jun 28, 2018 They are separate stories, where Six Ages takes place before KoDP I think. I've been playing on my iPhone X and it looks great. I'm sure it would look even better on my iPad, but it's definitely playable on the phone, especially a Plus size phone. dukat111 Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2010 514 94 28 #9 dukat111, Jun 28, 2018 Is there any chance we could get a PDF or web based manual to read? It doesn't look like you can pull up the manual when decisions come up and I'd like to be able to reference gods/magic/etc to help with decisions. lezrock likes this. curtisrshideler Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Jul 30, 2011 3,097 25 48 Male Video Producer/Editor Texas http://twitter.com/curtneedsaride #10 curtisrshideler, Jun 30, 2018 I’m bummed to see this didn’t get featured on the iOS App Store. This is so well done and such a deeper, richer experience than so many of the free games listed. Hope it makes an appearance on some featured list eventually. dukat111 Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2010 514 94 28 #11 dukat111, Jun 30, 2018 Agreed. Being on the App Store Editors list is huge. Unfortunately Apple mostly promotes freemium IAP apps over well made premium content. We'll always be there to support the good stuff ddunham Active Member Oct 5, 2011 40 2 8 Software Developer Tacoma, WA #12 ddunham, Jul 2, 2018 The manual is available from the “more info” button. It's a highly polished, deep game that took years to develop with has nearly 500,000 words! If there were more people willing to pay decent prices for quality games we'd have more good games instead of freemium junk. 76 reviews with 4.9/5 score say yes. Don't see many games for this price get that many reviews in less than a week unless they were featured on Apple's Editors list. Some additional info on the official site. https://sixages.com/resources/ Beware the game is complex with a steep learning curve. I highly recommend reading the entire in-game manual before playing. nenastya likes this. I have read up on it and seen the trailers, but it is kept fairly vague and doesn’t mention specific examples. Anyone else here playing this? I'm pretty deep in, and getting my butt handed to me. Any tips for doing better would be much appreciated XD (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
