Built over the solid physics simulation of RC Plane 3, and sharing all vehicles with it, RC Plane Explorer introduces a whole new and fully custom procedural terrain engine allowing virtually infinite scenarios for you explore and customise. Free Flight and exploration are the core elements of the gameplay, and while more adrenalinic game modes will come in the near future, RC Plane Explorer already rewards players with score for the each area of the map he explores, each animal species he discovers (tap on an animal to “discover it”) and each “secret coin” he collects (a few will be hidden in each scenario you generate). Large score bonuses will be granted for competition of some exploration aspects (EX: reveal 100% of the map, discover all animal species etc) . Scenarios are fully procedural and biome based with more biomes coming in the future. One of the many goals of this project was to reduce the very large download and install size of RC Plane 3, and we are happy to say that RC Plane Explorer is less than 1/5 the download and install size of RC Plane 3, while bringing larger scenarios to fly over, more animals, more biomes , denser vegetation and a much better performances. We have been working on, thinking about, planning and finally implementing our new Scenario/Terrain engine since quite a few years, and while already impressive, we have many plans to extend and improve it in the future, so expect a constant stream of improvements both in current biomes and in future ones. Debuting in RC Plane Explorer, and suggested by many users, is the possibility to “test” a plane without the need to purchase it, as long as “reward videos” will be available you will will be able to try all planes that previously required an in-app purchase. Now with "Photo Studio" mode: freeze time, tweak camera settings, customise effects and save or share gorgeous high rest screenshots of your flight adventures ! *** We hope you will enjoy RC Plane Explorer, and please don’t be shy, we immensely appreciate any suggestion, feedback, comment, idea, bug report, critic etc… email us [email protected], contact us on our Facebook page (FrozenPepper), Twitter (FrozenPepper), via the comments on our website or any other way you prefer. Based on a custom terrain engine we have been developing and refining since quite some time, RC Plane Explorer brings huge scenarios, exploration based game play and a relaxing free flight experience, all in a small package to download and install (as opposed to RC Plane 3 which was huge in size...) Reveal the maps, find all animal species that inhabit them, collect the hidden coins or just fly, and when bored generate a new scenario from the main menu. Also to note that all planes purchases are shared with RC Plane 3 using our custom account system. Many updates with new features, game modes and biomes are planned, and as usual we are eager to ear your suggestions and improve the game further so let us know what you think about it. A big plus for me is the trim control which allows the aircraft to be configured for stable flight without constant adjustments. I find the Realistic Pro Flight mode much easier than Arcade. On arcade setting it seems more difficult to maintain straight and level flight. If it is an accurate flight model then this may be due to the lower airspeed not providing sufficient stability. The option to test a plane before purchase is a great idea but I had trouble with it. I tested the Spitfire and was placed in the scenario close to the ground with the aircraft upside down, with no power and out of control, resulting in an immediate crash followed by a message that the test period had expired. This happened 3 times. I tried with another plane but got a message saying no videos were available. Aside from that, the terrain engine works well and there is already a good selection of aircraft and biomes. I haven’t spotted any animals yet but will keep searching. Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #4 Asp, Jun 28, 2018 Have been trying the Ventus glider today which has some issues. When being towed by the tug the tow rope is breaking 90% of the time before the glider leaves the runway. Needs a stronger piece of rope. Mid-air starts are ok except the glider always launches with the airbrakes fully extended. Not a good way to start. This is due to the brakes being mapped to the throttle control, so I wonder if it would be possible to invert the brake axis, or have the option of doing so. Still haven’t seen any animals. FrozenPepper Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2009 508 12 18 #5 FrozenPepper, Jun 28, 2018 Great thanks for your feedback ! About the Spitfire, you encountered a problem limited to that plane, it had landing gear settings completely messed up, we have fixed and going to submit an update to apple very soon. Huge thanks for your words ! It means a lot to us especially from you, we have been together on this great community for probably something like 10 years now ! Not sure how the cable was "breaking", we where not able to replicate it, but just to be sure slightly changed the cable detaching code to handle some extreme cases with airstrips spawning close to cliffs which could trigger a heigh check tow release well before the actually desired altitude. It might also help us to know on which device you encountered the problem. Thanks to your feedback we have also fixed the airbrake problem when launching in "simple"mode, now your glider will start with throttle input to maximum and no airbrake. About the animals.... We found a bug that could make some animals disappear when pressing the pause button, but it was a rare bug affecting only some of the animals. In general, scenarios are huge and animals small and not so many..... But we are testing with larger numbers for some species. Great thanks to all for the feedback, reports, kind words and suggestion, please keep them coming as we are more than committed to improve our games and your words are what counts most to do such. Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #6 Asp, Jun 28, 2018 Thanks for your replies FrozenPepper. Regarding the cable detaching, this happens as soon as the tug moves off so the glider doesn’t move at all. Most of my airstrips are near cliff edges so maybe the update will help. I assume the IAP are for planes? FrozenPepper Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2009 508 12 18 #10 FrozenPepper, Jun 29, 2018 Very sorry for the issue. We should have found the problem and have already submitted an update to Apple for review. Below full update change list. IAP are for planes and biomes. Game ships with 1 biome and 5 vehicles completely free, other biomes and planes can be unlocked via In-App purchase. First for us in a RC game, you can also test a plane by watching an advertisement (if available). Great thanks to all who have reported bugs and provided suggestions and feedback, directly thanks to you, here the quite loaded change list for the first RC Plane Explorer update which we have already submitted to Apple : - Fixed launch crash bug on some devices (iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus and some iPad Pro), sorry for it.. - Fixed bug in procedural terrain engine that could cause inconsistencies with some objects placement - Fixed bug in procedural terrain engine which could cause unwanted terrain features - Fixed collision problem with some rocks in Canyon biome - Fixed a bug which could cause slow downs and animals disappearing if game was paused in certain conditions - Improved glider tow release conditions to better adapt to scenarios - "Simple" launch mode for gliders now sets throttle input to max so not to start with airbrake active - Spitfire landing gear bug fixed (was causing plane to bounce off the runway on start) - Wind turbines now correctly adapt their speed to current scenario wind speed - Fixed water planes physics problems which made it hard to take off from water - Game now defaults in realistic mode for new users - Possibly fixed random launch crash bug - Other minor fixes FrozenPepper Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2009 508 12 18 #11 FrozenPepper, Jun 30, 2018 Happy to write that version 1.01 of RC Plane Explorer has been approved by Apple and is now available for download. Crashes on launch experienced on some devices should have been fixed as well as many other bugs. Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #12 Asp, Jul 1, 2018 Thanks for the update. The Spitfire is fixed, the glider tow works at higher altitude and the simple launch starts with airbrakes closed. I don’t have an iPhone so can’t comment on whether that is improved. I have some questions. 1) Please advise how the landing score is calculated. Since the update my landing scores have all been zero. Most of my landings are terrible but I managed a couple of perfect landings that still scored zero. They were from the same airstrip that I departed from so maybe that was the reason. 2) With the Ventus glider there is a variometer button at the bottom left screen. I presume this turns the audio signals on/off but I can’t tell whether the vario is switched on or not. So, when the the glider is first selected is the variometer on or off by default? I ask because since the update I haven’t heard any beeps even though the 3D display is showing rising air currents. 3) What is the function of the red circles on the map? Draven2222 Well-Known Member Dec 16, 2013 297 47 28 #13 Draven2222, Jul 1, 2018 Your update v1.01 still doesn’t work on iPad Air 2 , iOS 11.4, (crashes on launch) Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #14 Asp, Jul 1, 2018 I’m also using iPad Air 2, 11.4 and it works ok 99% of the time. There are occasional crashes to desktop which only seem to happen while using the RS 350 and Storm 250 drones and accessing the settings menu. Draven2222 Well-Known Member Dec 16, 2013 297 47 28 #15 Draven2222, Jul 1, 2018 Well it works 0% of the time on my iPad Air2, (11.4), I got 6gig of free memory The loading screen stays on for 2 seconds then it closes, if u double tap the home button the app is still active.. but opening it does exactly the same. Any ideas Dev? FrozenPepper Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2009 508 12 18 #16 FrozenPepper, Jul 1, 2018 1) Landing score is calculated based on touch down speed, eventual number of "bounces", straightness of landing and arrest distance. Can confirm that in current version it doesn't appear to be working correctly, especially for some planes. Working on it. 2) Variometer button has issues on some devices, we already have a fix, coming in next few days. 3) Red circles isolate areas where a "secret coin" is hidden. Great thanks for your feedback ! Very sorry for the issue and great thanks for taking the time to report the issue. Unfortunately we aren't able to replicate it on same device, even with way less free space on device. First suggestion that comes to mind, if you haven't already tried it, is to delete the game and re-install it. Also restarting the device might help. If this doesn't work, please let me know as we most definitely want to find out what is happening and fix it as soon as possible.
