Holy hell, I cant believe its coming back! This was one of my absolute favorite iOS games back in the day. Thank you for re-releasing it for us! I do agree with the frontpage article, though, that a classic mode using the cardinal directions again would be a great addition. I remember the original thread of complaints but it was honestly my favorite feature of the game. Regardless, thank you!
I defended that control scheme for years but honestly, once you get used to DX going back feels really really weird
I do too but, unfortunately, since I've upgraded to iOS11, it's just a useless icon that I just can't convince myself to delete...
I didn't want my 5th gen iPod to become completely obsolete so I made sure to support iOS 9 Side note: Thanks to the good folks here at TA for bringing this thread back to life after it got clobbered by the forum update!
Silverfish remains one of my favourite games — not just on iOS but on all platforms. I haven’t played it in a while and I am so ready to fall in love with this classic all over again!
Please tell me this will have a dual stick (minus being dual, I guess called d-pad) instead of just the flick controls I think I remember it being before?? This looks like it is going to be fun! Excited to play when it arrives...
Yes! It's now single-dual-stick controls with 360º of freedom. The opposite side of the screen is a giant button that activates the timeshock powerup. Works great with MFi controllers too... The 360º controls and remastered graphics/audio are the most obvious updates in DX, but some other changes include: * Larger play field that's the same size on all devices and just scrolls more/less depending on screen size. * One mode, that's a mashup of Reaper & Haste from the original (i.e. the only modes people played). * Timeshock powerup is much more effective and automatically recharges so you don't have to worry about "wasting" it. * Death is more predictable/forgiving: Crashes only kill you if you're at critical POW, else a crash puts you into critical POW. There's also a "mini-timeshock" when you crash giving you a bit more chance to recover. * Tweaked and/or totally new enemy behaviours, including a (secret!) boss/bonus stage with all-new enemies (once you git gud). I probably forgot something but that's the main stuff
I just pre-ordered since Silverfish Max was one of my favorite games of all time! I say was because, like others, I can't play it anymore.
