The graphics are gorgeous, the writing is smart and engaging, and theres a fair amount of depth including weapon and armor crafting and RPG elements. The controls are a bit fiddly but forgiving. This is still available on Steam for $12.99 (with mostly positive reviews), so its kind of a steal at $2.99 on iOS. Its fully premium, too. A very nice surprise... deresi Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2018 434 72 28 #3 deresi, Apr 8, 2018 I have heard that ZPLAY has recently become a provider of good indie game developers. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #4 squarezero, Apr 9, 2018 I played this pretty obsessively over the weekend and I’m still very impressed. The RPG elements are stronger than I thought, and the mission structure ties well with the action. And I really like the risk/reward system. But the real plus here is that there is so much personality to the art direction that it’s just a joy to spend time in this weird world. Though visually very different, there’s something very Oddworld about the vibe here. This is one that our Premium-only contingency should definitely not passed up. deresi Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2018 434 72 28 #5 deresi, Apr 9, 2018 What about errors or balances in the game? This was a disadvantage of Steam's PC version. And There was a comment that the player could not check the ability of the monster. But game art itself is wonderful. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #6 squarezero, Apr 9, 2018 Not sure about balancing — I may not have gone far enough to find the issues. The platforming / race encounter was more difficult than I thought it would be because of this. But I still managed it on the first try! Lanster27 Well-Known Member Apr 20, 2017 65 10 8 #14 Lanster27, Apr 11, 2018 Probably indie Chinese dev with no marketing in the West. The translation/localisation is a bit cringy and it's hard to say what type of game it is after looking at the screenshots. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #15 squarezero, Apr 11, 2018 The marketing copy is poor, but the writing within the game is actually pretty sharp. In any event, the point is that several well trusted people here at TouchArcade have praised the game, and it’s the rare premium game with no IAP and good reviews on Steam. By all rights, the premium game brigade should be all over this. And yet, crickets. Gambler Well-Known Member Mar 10, 2014 546 110 43 Gazorpazorp #16 Gambler, Apr 11, 2018 To be fair, not all reviews and impressions sound completely positive. Metacritic has one pretty devastating review but the other three are rather positive. None sound too excited though. Just from the reviews it looks like an above average game but as far as I can tell it doesn‘t reinvent the wheel. I’m still intrigued though, just one question: Does the game have mfi support? Some people don‘t seem to like the touch controls too much and I always prefer to play with controller if possible. With this game coming from PC here‘s hoping it supports mfi. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #17 squarezero, Apr 11, 2018 Of course not — very few games get perfect reviews, and even fewer reinvent the wheel. But is that our standard for giving a $2.99 game a chance? Because if that’s the case, the premium market is screwed. Frankly, I can’t quite think of any game like it on mobile. More important, this is a serious effort, well worth our attention. As to MFI, it doesn’t look like it, but my controller is on the fritz so I can’t check. I don’t really have a problem with the “Mode 1” control option, though. As sakara214ever Well-Known Member May 10, 2012 1,262 168 63 #18 sakara214ever, Apr 11, 2018 I really love what i am playing so far.(2 hours into the game) but i would really like this game to take much more attention. I do not care if this is an indie game or whatever. For me it is a beautiful looking premium game. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #19 squarezero, Apr 11, 2018 I’m with you. What I’m really liking about this game is that it feels so alien. The developers done a really good job creating a unique world with its own rules and systems. At the same time, there’s enough personality in the characters and situations that it’s all still relatable. That’s a tough balance to maintain, and this game makes it feels easy. Gambler Well-Known Member Mar 10, 2014 546 110 43 Gazorpazorp #20 Gambler, Apr 11, 2018 That wasnt really my point. Id love for premium games to get more attention and I dont mind paying $20 if a mobile game is good. Plus, I find it sad that a lot of ppl complain about a premium game being 10 Dollars but on the other hand willingly spend ten times as much on some freemium cr@p. Just saying that looking at reviews and comments Im not sure about this game. I loved Jydge (Dual Stick shooter with RPG elements) for example. Does this bear any resemblance? And mfi support would really go a long way - If anybody knows about this some info would be very much appreciated! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
