It has 2 currencies, energy timers, and it has tons of 'sales' and offers to try and get you to spend money. It does have Tapjoy to help you gain high end currency as a F2P, but it still feels like a crawl. Overall I'm not sure what to think. It doesnt feel like a terrible game and I've seen plenty worse, but I dont know how much time I want to invest in it. bigghurt Well-Known Member Apr 18, 2012 203 1 18 #3 bigghurt, Jan 31, 2018 Had a bit of fun on this game last night and this morning. Bought a few specials but wishing I had just saved some gold and bought the 10 pack of characters. Some of the characters on special don't seem to be as strong as they should. Also even if you spend money their is still a fair amount of grind as I've hit a wall on how far I can go until I level up my characters and team more. politicsasusual Active Member Feb 11, 2016 32 2 8 The United States of Whatever #4 politicsasusual, Feb 1, 2018 Pros + Offline Campaign with non-obtrusive optional ads. + High Definition Graphics (Destructible Environments/Ragdoll/Detailed Character Models) + Diverse Character Designs with a variety of game play styles and/or configurable attributes. Cons + Mandatory tutorial to introduce game play and/or in game currencies. + "Lootboxes" are starting to become a tiresome trend in mobile gaming. + Great level design; but the missions are so short they're barely memorable. I'm planning on investing some more time into this title, and maybe even a few bucks to show the devs some appreciation. Its great to see how detailed third person shooters on iOS have become and this is a great example of good mobile design, I just hope that it doesn't get lost amidst others and the F2P model doesn't detract from potential players. Rangerlump Well-Known Member Jan 20, 2010 482 23 18 #5 Rangerlump, Feb 1, 2018 I love how the screenshots show the player loaded down with 5 star heroes... like thats a real thing. DrlRage Well-Known Member Nov 15, 2012 70 1 0 #6 DrlRage, Feb 1, 2018 I got this during the soft launch. I was blown away! This game truly is a miracle in terms of graphical optimization. For a game to look this good and play this smooth you gotta give the dev credit. No massive battery drain like other good looking titles. Just looking at the characters you can see they sourced some top notch artists. IN A NUTSHELL it's a third person shooter and You swap between different team members to get different vantage points and kill the enemy troops. Is it fun? yes! Is it addictive? Yeah, it's designed to make you want to upgrade all the different perks and unlock new team members. Is it easy? Not really...I would say the game is pretty challenging. The hardcore elements in the game might frustrate less savvy gamers so I guess that's why they included autoplay (hate it or love it but it's in there.) IRONICALLY the fact that it's F2P will turn a lot of hardcore players off even though it's geared more for them. The F2P mechanics are generous and levelling up stats and unlocking new team members keeps things fresh. Sequence Well-Known Member Jul 15, 2012 262 1 18 #7 Sequence, Feb 1, 2018 Great looking game. I really want to like it but damn they pull every trick in the F2P playbook. And this is coming from a guy that plays several social rpgs at a time (right now Mobius FF, Fire Emblem Heroes, and LineageII Revolution). zeroex Well-Known Member May 20, 2014 344 25 28 #8 zeroex, Feb 2, 2018 apparently you can't re-roll? i wanted to try and get a better initial Hero but every time i delete + reinstall its still the same. Pressi Member Nov 23, 2015 12 0 0 #9 Pressi, Feb 2, 2018 Last edited: Feb 2, 2018 Basically it’s Soul Hunter and all the games like it, with some third person shooting gameplay that’s a bit more entertaining. But oh boy the IAP is through the roof. I wasn’t even done with the tutorial before getting bombarded with 7 different “limited” bundles. Also got the whole VIP system where you are allowed to buy more auto battle tickets, energy etc. a day if you spend a huge amount of money on it. Deleted after playing for two days. scape211 Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2012 318 3 18 Graphic Designer #10 scape211, Feb 2, 2018 huh....didnt see any 10 pack. Im honestly considering sticking with this game if some of the tapjoy stuff stays good. They had one tapjoy thing for like 2900 gold just to play a FF mobile gamer to lvl 10. Not too bad considering how much gold that gives you. It also appears like starter guys can go further than i thought since they can all be upgraded and you can grind for the copies of the starters. Honeslty it has potential and the graphics are amazing, but its a bit of a grind F2P fest. L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #11 L.Lawliet, Feb 2, 2018 I actually played this for about 2 months in soft launch. The mechanics and gameplay are awesome. However I got quickly overwhelmed. It's definitely okay for f2p but it's just way too grindy. You're not really forced into paying since I didn't feel a paywall (aside from PVP). The issue is if you want to upgrade your characters there's way too much grind that you end up hitting "autobattle." This game has such good gameplay that they ruined it by making too much grind that you get tired of playing it. Also the gacha is so difficult. I've never gotten anything higher than 4 stars and gotten 3 almost every time. You can save up for the best chest but most likely you won't get anything good. After 2 months of play not a single 5 star or higher. The only way to guarantee one is to grind out the "hero pieces" in PVP and other special battles and at that rate it would take you like 3-5 months to get a 5 star maybe? You do need to keep winning to get the pieces though. Ryzaerian Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2017 65 4 8 #12 Ryzaerian, Feb 3, 2018 So, when it shows you a Featured Hero, you click on that hero and it takes you to the 10-pack Hero bundle which guarantees a 5-Star. Does that mean that if you buy the 10-pack you get that specific Featured Hero, or just any random 5-Star? bigghurt Well-Known Member Apr 18, 2012 203 1 18 #13 bigghurt, Feb 3, 2018 No the ten pack is when you select the purple crate it will be right next to the 300 option for 2700 gold. Picking heroes bundle only gives the hero it shows for that price of gold. 10 hero boxes are random with a guarantee at 1 5 star with chances for more. Also all heroes are at least 3 stars in 10 pack. scape211 Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2012 318 3 18 Graphic Designer #14 scape211, Feb 5, 2018 Ive bought about 3 to 4 purple crates from mostly tapjoy stuff and one daily 5 buck pack. So far I got 1 5 star and all 3 star guys otherwise. From what ive seen on their official forums someone posted a PVP tier list. Plenty of good guys in it in the 3 or even less range. Here is the list. Might not be totally current: https://herohunters.hotheadgames.com/t/rygels-pvp-hero-tier-list/130 I plan to get Clyde and Mandrake from PVP hero pieces. Both seem solid and are only 3 star that you can PVP grind for. Overall, the 5 stars dont seem as mandatory and I originally thought for early game. I imagine certain ones are key for high end PVP, but anyone can be upgraded to 5 star (just with slightly less stats). Seems more important to have a balanced team than just a bunch of 5 stars though. I know ive been beat by lesser power teams in PVP. Might speak more to my terrible skill than anything else, but whatever. So far im enjoying the game with only a 5 buck investment. Not bad. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
