It works like for example Cover Orange, where a level starts at 999 and with time passing, the score decreases. It provides an additional layer and replay value for those who are interested in it (like me ), and for those who are not, it has no impact on how the game is played. It has been implemented cleverly in that way. I bought the "No Ads" in-app-purchase for USD 1,99, well worth it.
