Brilliant AiRic Well-Known Member Nov 5, 2010 245 2 0 Independent Developer Wisconsin http://cometblast.com #6 Brilliant AiRic, Nov 14, 2017 I have an update coming soon that will allow you to share your high score tower screenshot, reset the tower, and a few bug fixes that have been reported. DaveMApplegate Well-Known Member Oct 28, 2016 104 5 18 Orange County, California #7 DaveMApplegate, Nov 14, 2017 I played the game quite a bit yesterday. I agree w/ all the features you mentioned above... especially the reset the tower option. I think the game is an interesting concept but lacks repeat playability. You might want to think of ways to keep the player hooked. I played a game the other day called Stack Jump. I don't think Stack Jump is the best game, but they do a really good job of taking a simple concept and making it more than just a install and delete game. They added average player scores, characters, missions, etc. Cheers, Dave Brilliant AiRic Well-Known Member Nov 5, 2010 245 2 0 Independent Developer Wisconsin http://cometblast.com #8 Brilliant AiRic, Nov 14, 2017 Thanks for the feedback Dave. I was hoping to not rely on unlockables and missions to drive people back to the game. Although I did consider it while developing. My hope for this game was that you have a lot of creative freedom of how you can create a tower. This is what I envisioned driving the loop, along with high scores. My next hope is that people having the ability to screenshot and share their crazy tower inventions from within that app will help market the app and also continue to drive the creative loop. What do you attribute the downloads to so far? Did you post it anywhere to get people from China to download? Have you tried posting to ProductHunt yet? Brilliant AiRic Well-Known Member Nov 5, 2010 245 2 0 Independent Developer Wisconsin http://cometblast.com #12 Brilliant AiRic, Nov 17, 2017 I've posted on Twitter and Facebook a couple times. I've posted on Imgur and obviously here. In the past, I've posted on Reddit, but I find my post gets removed pretty quickly and it just ends up being frustrating. I think it got some traction in China because it had a minor feature, seen in the screenshot. I always wonder if I translate some of the text into a different language if it would help boost sales in those regions, but I haven't actually done that yet. I've never heard of Product Hunt. Maybe I will check that out. Thanks for the suggestion. I'd highly suggest creating something that would be of value to the subreddit. E.x. write about your lessons learned on r/gamedev. How did you get those China features? Brilliant AiRic Well-Known Member Nov 5, 2010 245 2 0 Independent Developer Wisconsin http://cometblast.com #14 Brilliant AiRic, Nov 18, 2017 Well, I've had a major feature with an app in the past (On A Tilt). I believe at least someone at Apple plays every game and it probably gets past around for the week if people think it's good enough. Then on Thursday, several apps get selected and they go into some of the major feature slots. I think in this case, it's a super minor feature, where they just throw it into some category. I don't think I've ever released a game that didn't get some sort of feature from Apple, but most are really low features and have basically low to no impact. Brilliant AiRic Well-Known Member Nov 5, 2010 245 2 0 Independent Developer Wisconsin http://cometblast.com #15 Brilliant AiRic, Nov 20, 2017 Update 1.1 Good news! Update 1.1 is out. I've added a new settings area which allows you to share a screenshot of your tower, reset your current stack, check the top scores, and rate the app. I've improved the graphics and fixed a few bugs. Now when your new best tower falls, you'll see a screenshot of it right before it fell. You'll be able to share it on social media, through text message, or just save it to your photos. kisschrisjohnson Member Sep 28, 2017 5 0 0 #16 kisschrisjohnson, Nov 21, 2017 Youve some big competition with Ketchapp and Voodoo guys eh! I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about. Are you playing version 1.0 or 1.1? If you're not sure version 1.0 had a leaderboard button in the top right version 1.1 has a settings button in the top right. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
