First, the game is gorgeous, with top notch visuals, music, and VO that make for a truly immersive experience. The story mixes a post-apocalyptic setting with a myth-like narrative that so far is both intriguing and emotionally resonant. As for the gameplay, imagine a “Go” title but with more open puzzles and free movement. The basic mechanic involves “possessing” creatures with different abilities to clear a variety of environmental obstacles. There’s also turn-based combat in which you can possess enemies to fight each other — it’s all one-hit kills, though, so it feels more puzzle-like than tactical. All in all, this is a beautiful and engaging game, and one of the best App Store surprises since, well, ICEY. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #4 squarezero, Nov 2, 2017 BTW — this is a port of a fairly well received Steam game. dreadnok Well-Known Member Jun 8, 2011 4,157 7 38 I came here to kick ass and chew bubble gum I'm ou #5 dreadnok, Nov 2, 2017 Thanks a lot mate psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,971 722 113 England #6 psj3809, Nov 2, 2017 Thanks squarezero. I have been on the fence finding the setting and possession mechanic compelling, but unsure of the immersion and replayability. You make a great case with a more open world version of the Go series gameplay mechanics. Your impressions often mirror my own, and as such I'll support this dev and hit the buy button for Peregrine # ~Insane amount of great puzzle experiences coming to iOS lately # gaymerX Well-Known Member Dec 30, 2014 280 0 16 #10 gaymerX, Nov 3, 2017 Played this last night and I really like it a lot. But now Im stuck on the first indoor section... keep getting killed by falling off a ledge. Guess Ill see if I can find a walkthrough. *Sigh* FYI, this looks great on iPad Pro!! squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #11 squarezero, Nov 4, 2017 Not sure what you mean by indoor section — I’m indoors now, and there are no water traps. So far, the puzzles have been interesting but not terribly difficult. One thing to keep in mind is that what you need may be available in a different section, and sometimes the challenge is to get a creature from one section to the next. The more I play, the more impressed I am with the overall design of this game. The sense of scale in particular is fantastic — on par with something like Sword & Sworcery. I hope we get to see a review here — this needs way more attention. Bumpygames Well-Known Member Jul 9, 2016 336 3 18 croatia #12 Bumpygames, Nov 7, 2017 (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
