So, because I know how these things usually go, if you're here just to say "HOPLITE CLONE!!" but haven't actually played the game yet, then just please save your comment. I'd love to hear how similar/different the two games are but only from people who have actually played, otherwise what's the point? So in an effort to hopefully keep this thread from getting spammed with a million comments based on how the game looks, please keep the above in mind. stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #3 stubbieoz, May 11, 2019 Just bumping this as the game has gone “free” and has a one off purchase to get the full game. It’s $2.99 AUD, $1.99US. Having not played Hoplite I don’t know how this game compares though the screenshots show a similarity. There are various powerups you can choose from after clearing each level, though all disappear when you die. Death is permanent. Not a bad little game after some 15 minutes of playing. More of a puzzle type game that makes you think a move or two ahead. No cloud save, offline gameplay, save your position at any time, seperate audio sliders. Plays and looks good on large iPad Pro and iPhone 8 Plus. Worth a try. badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,886 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #4 badmanj, May 11, 2019 Nice game but doesn’t seem to save the game properly - I got to about level 12, opened another app, came back to this later and there was no option to continue game; this was disabled and could only start a new game. And I’d already purchased the game too, so a little annoyed. Hope this gets fixed soon because for me, personally, I’m in and out of apps all the time so auto save is essential. badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,886 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #5 badmanj, May 11, 2019 ... just confirmed this is a problem. Start a new game, play a level, descend to the next, then quit and close the app. Reopen and there’s no continue option at all. There IS an “exit and save” option but you have to physically take this action. Devs - if you’re reading this, can you please fix? Just a save when you descend the stairs would be enough... stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #6 stubbieoz, May 11, 2019 Yeah, I didn’t see that. I always just manually saved after each level. Though I do like if you remember to manually save it will save your position in the level exactly. One thing that I’m really disappointed with is you have to purchase the game for iPad and iPhone separately. (wonders if there is anyway to tell in the app store if this is the case?). I sent a email off to the dev about this but I really don’t expect a reply as the game is quite old. If I do hear from them I will tell them about your saving suggestion. badmanj Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2009 1,886 24 38 Software developer Reading, England http://www.underground-collective.com #7 badmanj, May 12, 2019 One other thing that could be better... you need to click on enemies (especially ranged ones) to see where they can hit... but often I accidentally click on the tile beside the enemy that’s unoccupied and the game therefore thinks I’m trying to move there, moves me and I get zapped! Should be the ability to explore the layout without risk of moving... There are differences between the two, but I spent many months playing Hoplite daily and can absolutely say that if you enjoy this game but wish it felt just a little more polished... you’ll love Hoplite.
