As ambitious gardeners, you face the challenge of filling the beds in every corner of your garden with plants, inspired by the limitations of space to create ever new compositions. You will use a variety of plants — as well as flowerpots and garden cloches — to design gardens that bloom with diversity. Be kind to the helpful cats! Goal of the Game - In Cottage Garden, you compete in the art of gardening. Plant two Flowerbeds with different flowers. Score each Flowerbed when there are no more free spaces visible on it, then exchange it for a new, unplanted one. You receive points for all visible Flower Pots and Garden Cloches on the completed Flowerbed, and you may also receive Flower Pots and Cats that will help you with your gardening. The player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner. This one's not quite as cutthroat as Patchwork since you can't as easily affect what your opponent can do, but it has a similar tile-laying motif. I've been trying out patchwork of late and just can't get in to it. I prefer deep games and patchwork just isn't coming across as even remotely close. More like a long winded game of Tetris albeit with a sprinkle of strategy around shape choice. Is the AI a sufficient challenger for extended solo gameplay? IOW, can this game survive on single-player mode alone or do we need to play multiplayer to expand game options or unlock items? I see this game as a pretty direct sequel to Patchwork. While it has a number of more interesting strategic aspects, at its core its still a lot of strategic Tetris playing on your own boards in hopes to more efficiently fill out garden areas quicker than your opponent. At this point I just barely squeezed out a win vs. the Easy AI, so the AI feels like it can provide a good challenge. As far as I can tell there arent any unlockables in the game but Im afraid, much like Patchwork, the games detailed stat tracking will only apply to multiplayer.
