Might take 2-3 plays to ""get into"" but once you get the idea it haunts you and you want to get better at it with each play. -Ricks, Board Game Geek BE THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PLAYER TO WIN THE KING'S FAVOR: Harald is a card game of influence and majority. As the head of a village, each player will try to charm the most influential character of the realm to be noticed by the King and win his favor. But to win you will need to think and wisely use the abilities of each character. LEARN HOW TO USE THE CHARACTERS AND THEIR POWERS! Each turn, players execute three actions in order: - play one card in the King's council - play one card in the player's village - draw cards to replenish your hand There are six different characters, each with a different function and power. Discover the Wolf/scout, the Lynx/merchant, the Fox/bard, the Bear/warrior, the Goat/seafarer; the Boar/blacksmith. Discover each character's ability and use them in order to overtake your opponents! Each animal will give you the ability to make a move at the end of your turn: you can steal cards from your adversary, try to exchange his or your cards with the council in order to play in your favor, return cards to erase their points or just place a good card on the top of the pile! Whatever you choose, decide wisely how to make the most of every move! SCORE AS MANY POINTS AS YOU CAN! The goal is simple: get the maximum number of points! In order to win, you need to pay attention to the cards' associations and put together the ones that work best. At the end of the game, each card in the village of a player counts as many points as the number of times the same card appears in the King’s council. Play smartly in both your village and the council and don't forget to keep an eye on your opponents' villages in order to win. EXPERIENCE MORE STRATEGY WITH THE BADGER/SCHOLAR! Discover an exclusive card, which introduces a new character, the Badger/Scholar. This card offers you the possibility of protecting a series of characters in your own village. It makes the game harder for your opponents because if they want to destroy those cards, they will have to attack the Badger/Scholar first if he is present! Also the lack of a single player campaign is kind of a negative for me, even though it has versus the computer type thing. I'm certainly not going to play against live players when I have little clue as to the nuances to the game. Otherwise all in all good devs and cheap price are positives, and I guess like all things the more I play the more I'll learn, just wish it had some sort of storyline or something to enjoy for anti-social gamers like me play and enjoy IOSgamer1980 Well-Known Member Nov 6, 2015 432 2 18 #15 IOSgamer1980, Sep 29, 2017 Anyone want to describe how to play this? My one complaint is you need to thourghly read the cards. The abilities are static, but you have to memorize them. Gameplay is timed and if you examine a card there isnt always a back out option. Once you memorize the cards the game becomes pretty easy to understand. ZS77 Well-Known Member May 8, 2015 566 2 18 #18 ZS77, Sep 29, 2017 For those struggling to grasp the rules and nuances, try watching the YouTube video below. It's a video review of the physical game. Whilst the guy presenting it is a bit annoying, bear with it as his explanation makes sense and is actually quite good at describing the basics of play mechanics and scoring. And it's only 9mins long! Generally speaking, if playing the full rules with prestige points awarded, you are basically looking to spend your 10 rounds (if 2 player, less rounds if more players) building your deck and playing your hand to build up a strategy dependant on the cards that the pack deals you; the strategy is not about instant point scoring but rather understanding the synergy between the different classes/characters and building the foundations for the final round. The final round allows you to play one single card before then totalling your points. If you've strategised correctly and picked the right cards, the prestige points generated through the various synergies should begin to rack up and hopefully give a healthy score. From what I've read, learning the cards pros and cons and how their synergies interact is key. https://youtu.be/WFkpdC4OvGs Misguided Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2009 2,346 19 38 #19 Misguided, Sep 29, 2017 Can the timer be turned off/ set to infinite? skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #20 skoptic, Sep 30, 2017 Game seems light but nice, good polish on most of the game, but Asmodee sync matching for an async game = never starting a match. Love the fact Asmodee embrace iOS. Yet sadly they are embracing it with a lacklustre MP implementation. probably wont buy their upcoming games anymore, sad. Also unable to close app and continue a (solo) game... So OK .. but would prefer to pay a bit more for a game I can pause or actually play multiplayer. Also while Im complaining .... the game requires you to type your password in each time you open the app and try to log on.... that and sync matching are a couple of serious fails that add a lot of friction to a key function...
