In fact, since last week I've been constantly checking the app store for this one to release (since iOS gets Android releases about a month after - which I still think is the stupidest thing ever). I'm a sucker for EXE and also this is hands-down, the best Kemco artist imo. I'm always excited when this artist draws since I personally think this artist is way way better than any of the other artists that work for Kemco. I'm surprised they don't hire new artists. In fact, you can probably hire some artists from pixiv as there are plenty of professional tier artists (who could be better than any current Kemco artist) who would probably not charge much if they could get featured in a mobile game. Anyhow... I started it up and played about 30 minutes. Still fun! One big change is I noticed they swapped the awesome battle gauge mechanic for a cool down mechanic. This changes things up so you can't spam skills but on the bright side you can use any of those skills as long as the cool down is over. This is a welcome variety imo. This also applies to magic skills as well - one big upside is you don't have to manage mp or skill gauges and just spam what you have available. I'll keep playing but I love all the character designs so far. Also the character sprites in battle are on the left side now which seems more natural, but throws me off in a Kemco game since they're usually always on the right. Menu items are on the left but I customized them back to the right since that makes sense for right handed play. The story seems like an isekai one, basically character transported to another world. It's a fun theme I like from anime but I do hope they can use that theme fully instead of falling back on generic "let's save the world and pretend the backstory didn't happen." Well I'm off to play! Edit: With more play time it could be possible that this is my favorite battle system. It might seem "simplified" from the popular exe create battle systems of old however this new design I've noticed stops me from spamming and allows me to experiment different skills. In the other games once I found a deadly magic combo, I would just keep using it, then charge up my bp, then repeat. In Fernz Gate I'm more likely to look at different attacks while my skills are on cooldown and with no mp, I don't need to "save up" for my best skills. Hp is also restored after battle. From the video too it has my curiosity. It's been a while since I've gone for a kemco title, I didn't like the weapon system they were doing for a whilehaving to carry lots of equipment fot upgrades. Anything like that going on here? It appears that the hero isn't an orphan so that's already a different story element! If the weapons aren't screwed up and the story is decent I think I'll bite. Hambo12 Well-Known Member Jul 23, 2012 1,943 28 48 on the internet #8 Hambo12, Sep 9, 2017 Played for an hour before having to sleep (it was 3 am) really loving it. Best kemco game so far. the art style and characters in this just look so good. Just hope the romance in this game leads to something more. Unlike asdivine hearts where's it just teased from beginning until the end L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #9 L.Lawliet, Sep 9, 2017 Rather enjoying the game so far. The afro guy's addition is pretty funny. I hope there's another party member to 5 as there are only 4 right now. The buddy system is underused without 5 because that means only 2 people can partner with each other and the other two will use minions. It kind of ruins the amount of variation you can have like in AH2. AH2 gets an edge in gameplay design because of the equipment box mechanic. I almost forgot about that here. You will notice it immediately if you go back between the games. AH2 let me equip accessories and then magic/skill/extra items go into the equipment box for each character. However in every other exe RPG, magic is equipped like accessories which actually lowers the amount of skills and abilities you can use. It's unfortunate the only games that use that wonderful mechanic are AH1 and AH2. And as usual, the newer Kemco games are annoyingly greedy with the price of IAP. They're pretty outrageous and the increase in costs of the EXP boost and the drop rate boost still upset me. The games a year ago let me buy them both and have a little left over. Right now I can only buy one and I won't have enough for the other. Plus, EXP boosts can be bought multiple times and there are slots to buy in the inventory. I really wish they'd go back but doesn't look like it. Luckily these aren't really necessary to enjoy the game but as a completionist this bugs me. I would love to have rare character buddies but the gacha cost is extremely steep which would be rather spent saving up for outfits. I am no fan of kemco as I feel they always deliver the same game with the same mechanics. Solarclipse Well-Known Member Jul 30, 2012 879 64 28 #11 Solarclipse, Sep 10, 2017 Inventory slots cost money huh...so are there the same mechanics with weapon upgrades, where you have to consume weapons to upgrade another one? I really hated that...you had to be on the lookout for specific enchantments, like sleep weapons etc in order to really strengthen kind of enchantment, and it just made things overly taxing.
