It’s a beautiful day here at the ballpark, and this game has been a squeaker! Everyone expected the league leaders to roll into town and easily defeat the home team. But the scrappy upstarts have played the game of their lives and managed to keep the score tied right until the end. Their fatigue is showing and now it's their last chance. If the home team batters don’t score a run now, the visitors will be sure to win the game in extra innings. It all comes down to the Bottom of the 9th! Will you lead the underdogs to victory? Or will you defend the league leaders’ unbroken winning streak? Bottom of the 9th is a strategic 2-player baseball game played with cards and dice. This faithful adaptation brings the fast-paced fun of the tabletop game to your iPhone and iPad! Choose your lineup from a pool of players with different strengths and abilities, outsmart your opponent in the stare-down, then roll the dice to trigger the action. Bottom of the 9th offers many ways to play: • Compete in single player against a computer opponent (3 levels of difficulty) • Take on the Manager's Challenge 6-game solo campaign mode • Pass and play on your device with a friend • Challenge a friend to play online • Find a worthy opponent in a ranked online match • Organize a casual online exhibition game The powerhouse visitors have six dynamite pitchers to choose from, including: • Wake Louder throws a nasty knuckleball that can get a lost ball just into the edge of the strike zone. • Southpaw Straw is a talented lefty pitcher with one dangerously effective (and illegal) spitball. • Hurricane Patriss is a top notch reliever, and the only thing more hypnotic than his curveball is his voice. Don't count out the home team! They have a dozen batters, each with their own special powers, including: • Mully Nomah can be devastating against the pitching team when runners are in scoring position. He can clobber a pitch and get those base runners home! • Kerry Rumble has power behind her swing. She has the ability to crush the ball hard, at the cost of hitting lots of fouls. She just can’t resist taking a swing! • K.C. Petty is truly a powerhouse when the chips are down. The more strikes he gets, the bigger he swings. • Hannah Cait may look innocent, but when she's in the zone she calls all the shots! This rookie's level of control over her swing is the envy of many a veteran. Both teams have access to two support characters who provide special abilities to one or both teams: • Dice Dixon has no problem taking chances coming out from the dugout, benching batters and challenging umps! • Doc Mullins is always looking after the health of the team, whether that means a more rested pitcher or more energized batters! The Manager's Challenge solo campaign mode puts you right in the dugout as a team manager. Can you lead your team to the playoffs in a 6-game homestand? • Play six game solo campaigns as the home team against a revolving cast of pitchers. • Compete in nine different game situations, including multiple inning games. • Each campaign game is played using one of six effect cards that change the feel of the game. • The Manager's Challenge can be played in Classic Mode (using a Pitcher's Deck of stare-down cards) or against any level of CPU opponent. • Four increasing levels of difficulty will put your management and batting skills to the test! • Earn up to 11 achievements and compete with others on 8 leaderboards for the solo campaign mode. ~~~ There’s nothing that’s quite like the thrill you feel in the Bottom of the 9th! ~~~ Bottom of the 9th is an officially licensed product of “Bottom of the 9th” from Greater Than Games and Dice Hate Me Games. They do plan on making a tablet version in the future, but it looks pretty good at 2x on my iPad Air 2. I was part of the beta testers and I must say some things. 1 - I did the ipod 6th gwn, ipad air1 and android (on a xiaomi redmi 3) tests and they all worked very well. I have played this both on an phone and an ipad and I thnk this is a game that goes well with a phone, but also well with an ipad. Graphics and fonts work well allaround. However, gameplay feels more the type to go on a phone, just because I reserve my ipad for big things like.planescape torment and banner saga. This game is incredibly fun in 5-10 mins sessions. If you know the game itself you know this is true. You basically play the BOT9th and have to either score something or out the other team. 2 the developers did an amazing beta. It was fast and to the point, they were very close to the testers, always getting very fast around bugs and problems and welcoming suggestions. For me this says a lot on the future of this game. It means they will keep welcoming feedback from players and putting into the game. 3 the game is an excelent port of the physical version. The only thing it doesn't have (for now maybe, don't know if they will put it up later) are the scenarios of the solo version and the solo deck. Also, (on the physical game) there is a big expansion coming up, as well as two mini expansions, so there is definitely room to grow. Also on this topic, one of the things I like about the digital version is the attention to detail. You can make your own roster (like the physical game) and you have the cards as in the physical game, with the background of each guy. For me this is insta buy, but once again a heads up this is not a game that you should play hours on end. This is good for lots and lots of small play sessions imho. A bit like race for the galaxy, where you can quickly play 2-3 games, then go do what you were doing. J.R. Jalapeno Well-Known Member Oct 6, 2008 663 0 16 #12 J.R. When the phone version was added, SOTM became a universal app. If they're willing to upgrade a $10 app with tons of DLC into a universal one, I imagine they'll do the same here. I was also in the beta and I'll echo the previous tester. Handelabra was quick to respond to bug reports and feature requests, and I'm sure they'll be adding more content to the game to catch it up to the physical version, just like they did with SOTM. Dragan Well-Known Member Aug 21, 2014 365 7 18 Belgium #14 Dragan, Aug 17, 2017 That's good news Avaniar Well-Known Member Jul 26, 2016 246 1 18 #15 Avaniar, Aug 17, 2017 Hmm yeah The solo mode is just multiplayer with AI. It is good but it is not the physical game's solitaire which is very interesting because of different scenarios. This is a game that has a strong mind-reading/"intimidation" component on the stare down. With the AI, I don't feel that is totally random. There is a predictable/unpredictable feel to it (or maybe that is just in my mind), where you think "ok if I were the AI, what would I do...". It is interesting, but the game really shines in multiplayer. But if you are offline or just don't want to go multiplayer, then solo if fine for like 3 games in a row. More than that I feel it starts to become cumbersome (but so does multiplayer for me lol). J.R. Jalapeno Well-Known Member Oct 6, 2008 663 0 16 #16 J.R. Jalapeno, Aug 17, 2017 Ok thanks! At present the Medium AI is based on those rules, though! - We are also going to keep improving the AI in updates.
