There's a tutorial but it's too short, I have lots of game mechanics questions. You can pick 4 characters but it's not clear if that's desirable or more for pass & play with people. I tried 4 characters and found it very difficult, seems it may be better to use just 1 or 2. Anyone know if not picking 4 character puts you at a disadvantage? Unless you have great eyes or an iPhone Plus this is hard to play on a phone, looks fine on an iPad. Count be an interesting game, at the moment I'm finding it very difficult once guards get 4 movement points. Lots to learn before I can provide a useful review. If anyone knows the rules a short tutorial/tips beyond the in-game one would be appreciated. Played it a few times so far and I think having four characters is challenging. Using two characters is a little easier, less chances of getting caught. Playing by yourself works just as well. You can choose how many characters you want to play with, from one to four. that works! If you are more of a visual learner, watching a YouTube video can also help. This guys game got pretty intense. Unfortunantley he left it at a cliff hanger in video 2. https://youtu.be/NKpNWtD4IwE Edit: this video is the kickstarted version but the mechanic hasn't changed. It's pretty good at getting you started. wyzau Well-Known Member Oct 3, 2012 298 1 18 #10 wyzau, Aug 12, 2017 That's one thing that keeps me from buying the game - the font in Holy Potatoes A Weapon Shop is really difficult to read on my iPhone 7. How are other users feeling about the font size on an iPhone 7? There is a load game screen, but going back to the menu does not save. Anyone have any luck saving? Also, you can scum the game by going back and forth to spend AP and avoid drawing events, which is against the rules of the physical game, but that it not a big deal imo, because events can help you as well as hurt you. nuutsch Well-Known Member Jul 18, 2012 116 0 0 #12 nuutsch, Aug 12, 2017 It plays really well on an iPhone 7. Awesome boardgame and awesome app. pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #13 pjft, Aug 12, 2017 I haven't played the board game version, but if this is a bug definitely report it to Tim. I have quit games and picked them up again by using this continue button - seems to work OK for me, are you using start or continue to pick up an in progress game? skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #16 skoptic, Aug 13, 2017 In what instance are you avoiding events? When taking only 2 actions per turn? When only using 2 AP and then using the end turn function, the event tick / cross pop up shows up, what are you doing to scum it? If you continue to use AP that is the expected behaviour (to not get an event) islesfan Well-Known Member Jul 25, 2012 319 3 18 Male Teacher Nevada #17 islesfan, Aug 13, 2017 It looked good, but it's really dull and completely unwinnable, so I've already deleted it. shfrost Well-Known Member Apr 9, 2010 432 10 18 Artist Wooded area #18 shfrost, Aug 13, 2017 You determined the game is unwinnable in just two days? Could you give us details on that as well as the "dull" aspect. I ask because the boardgame version is very highly rated, and barring any bugs, I'd expect the iOS edition to be of similar quality. islesfan Well-Known Member Jul 25, 2012 319 3 18 Male Teacher Nevada #19 islesfan, Aug 14, 2017 If you use one character, you can't get anything done before you're caught. If you use multiple characters, you rack up the detections in a couple of turns. So, for example, if you have to go to certain tiles to get the safe combo (or whatever is is you do to open the safe), you will be detected several times in the process. Again, maybe with a decent tutorial, I'd have a better idea of what is going on. I play a lot of board game adaptations and this is probably the most frustrating one. skoptic Well-Known Member Apr 3, 2015 634 82 28 #20 skoptic, Aug 14, 2017 5 mins with the rules pdf will help https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/119232/burgle-bros-first-edition-rules. I think its well balanced, Ive been progressing well, but yet to win, as Id expect. Lots of characters with diff skills, so plenty of strategies to try. Maybe start with the hacker so you can move without peeking a fair amount? (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
