It would have been an instant purchase without that. Now I'm actually going to have to think about it given my situation (neither of my iOS devices has cellular capability, and for 10+ hours a day, I'm in an environment with no wifi). It's particularly sad in this case because Legend of Mana is one of my favorite PS1 games, and I'm getting some (probably intentional) serious LOM vibes from this. Super polished, well designed and well written with a tonne stuff to do! Worth the price and even more but as everyone here says or is aware, same for me, the online requirement is a big let down. It has some online goodies a la Chaos Rings 3... but the point that you can't take it with you all the time is a letdown... Also, it keeps trying contact with the server toooo many times (in between stages, before/after battles, in building stuff etc)... This means (at least for me) that even on a strong wifi i already have some disconnections (not something big but is a no, to an already ''don't want stuff'')... As an optimist guy, I'll hope for an offline update but from the structure, i am not sure that it will ever happen. As i told at the beginning despite the online stuff is a really really good game that i would spend even more for it (on an offline version)!!! Good luck to the devs anyway. Pagan Fox Well-Known Member Jul 20, 2012 476 32 28 #8 Pagan Fox, Aug 3, 2017 Have been playing for an hour or so and here are some initial imps. As you start it really does hold your hand a la tutorial mode and in fact it felt like playing a kids game, that is until you get let loose on the world. Man is there a lot to do. There are spirits to collect, eggs to find to open up new areas, menus to cook to gain loyalty points with your companions, upgrades and evolutions and subsequent material gathering for that, house and furniture upgrading, combat, open exploration......it just goes on and on. The levelling system starts off quick but I can see will take more time as you progress. According to the website I believe level 100 is max level but then this unlocks a secret mode? Not sure. Ok, yes it's online only and it does server checks when you leave areas or change menus etc For me not such an issue as I mainly play at home or can get a good 4G signal around town. I'm wondering if some sort of wider social element might come into it? Who knows. So far I'm happy and no bugs! What happens when you die in the game? Do you just have to start over the stage you were on? Can you save often in the game? Any time you want or are there save points? Any tips or tricks? Things to keep in mind? Thanks in advance! Dailon80 Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2014 3,574 66 48 Program Director/Radio DJ Eos #11 Dailon80, Aug 3, 2017 I can answer all these. If you die you start the stage over... you can replay the stages and grind up like other RPGS its recommended. Plus you have mission goals so may want to replay to make sure you get those done. no save points it autosaves and does that well. Keep in mind that you will not want to put this game down it keeps you so busy and it's like 10 genres in one game anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 703 113 #12 anthony78, Aug 3, 2017 One thing I was reading from the dev was that the focus was not on battles. I have a few more questions, if that's alright. Is there a day/night cycle? I haven't seen anything hinting at that, so I'm guessing not? I read something about harvests. What that's like? Plant something, wait for it to grow, harvest it, done? The game actually reminds me a little of Rune Factory 4 which I loved but also found rather overwhelming. So I worry a bit that which so much to do, I'll end up stressing myself. First impressions... launched the game only to immediately have to download more resources. It took about 5 more minutes, and but looked like it was only about 18.5mb (I checked my cellular data usage for the app after playing). Had to restart the game twice because it refused to make a connection to the servers, saying it wasn't responding, or timing out, or something. I'm not on wifi, I'm on 2 bars of AT&T LTE inside a building in the middle of Phoenix, AZ. That's a little disconcerting. After launching the third time, it finally came up and I was able to accept terms and start the game. By then, my lunch break's about done -- but I got through the intro and to the beginning where it's time to cut some wood. Not sure how the game will save... I poked around settings and such and didn't find anything. We'll see if I have to start over when I get home tonight. The good news - this game is totally adorable. The music, the dialogue, the artwork -- completely love it. I'll see how it plays at work over lunch for the next week, but if it can't handle 2 bars of AT&T LTE, then it may just have to be a wifi / only at home game. That part's frustrating when you pay for a premium game, but if the gameplay is as fun as the intro was, I'll just have to deal. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
