Curious to know the F2P model. Would have paid for a Layton type model for a premium game but what can you do. Hambo12 Well-Known Member Jul 23, 2012 1,943 28 48 on the internet #6 Hambo12, Jul 26, 2017 it's a free to play japanese social rpg. energy meter, gatcha summons, etc. not gonna make you feel like you're playing a full console ps4 tales rpg but it's still pretty good for what it is. also a battery drainer 60% to 30% from just doing 3 levels anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,128 704 113 #7 anthony78, Jul 26, 2017 Hmm...I can live sometimes with energy meters, but if gotcha summons are required to progress, dont like an endless pit of IAPs to do that. Ill give it a whirl. Hope games like Layton do well enough for devs like NAMCO to reconsider premium games. Id easily pay $20 for a Tales game on iOS. Maybe more. Hambo12 Well-Known Member Jul 23, 2012 1,943 28 48 on the internet #8 Hambo12, Jul 26, 2017 you do get a lot of currency just from playing and daily logins. and yes hopefully though not much publicity on it aside from a couple reviews from different sites which some are pretty negative. should've launched on DS first sadly zeroex Well-Known Member May 20, 2014 344 25 28 #9 zeroex, Jul 27, 2017 Is there a paywall? how's the iap? maxbrickem Well-Known Member Aug 25, 2009 327 0 16 #10 maxbrickem, Jul 27, 2017 Last edited: Jul 27, 2017 Everything Hambo has said so far. So I've played a bit now and yeah, there is a friend system, use them in your party for benefits like xp, dmg, etc. Gatcha system is per usual in social games, use gems to summon better gear etc etc. Like Hambo said they are decently generous with premium currency so far - The setting is you are on a ship, which is home base, and from there you explore diff. areas with "levels," which are nodes on a map. You don't have free open-world gameplay but in each level you run around and fight monsters/gather chests but the levels, at least for now, are very small and linear. Story is meh so far, but i'm not very far. Overall, I think it's worth a free download to check it out, but its def not gonna be everyone's cup-o-tea. It is different than what I was expecting and I, as well, would have preferred a premium tales game w a $20 price tag. Oh well, give it a shot! you have nothing to lose, but time I guess... Hambo12 Well-Known Member Jul 23, 2012 1,943 28 48 on the internet #11 Hambo12, Jul 27, 2017 yes gatcha, as far as i can tell is for summoning weapons only, no characters since you get them just from playing the game unless someone can confirm otherwise. also would have loved a premium tales game but this will maybe scratch that itch tekchic Well-Known Member Jun 5, 2009 452 29 28 Female Software Developer Phoenix, AZ http://www.tekchic.com #12 tekchic, Jul 27, 2017 Premium, I'd have bought in a heartbeat. Not the biggest gacha fan. The only freemium game I barely tolerate is Disney Magic Kingdoms (because I'm a stupid Disney nerd). LOVE the Tales series, but I'll stick to the Tales games I have on PS3, PS4, and Vita for now. etienu Member Jan 13, 2017 23 2 3 #13 etienu, Jul 27, 2017 Aww man. I don't know why, but when I saw the screens in out, I assumed this would be premium. I always force myself to avoid clicking on the forum links, and immediately scroll to the bottom of the page to see which apps have prices next to them. I got so excited, I decided to break my rule but I closed the page before it could load lol I'll try it I guess. Usually, if there's an overly long (5+minutes) and tedious tutorial, I get pissed and I delete the app and hide the purchase lol Applepen Active Member Jul 14, 2017 33 0 0 #14 Applepen, Jul 27, 2017 Looks cool. It's my style! Kwadius Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2015 63 3 8 #15 Kwadius, Jul 27, 2017 I'm torn between this and Sword Art Online. You can go far w/o iap's but prepare to grind. Cool graphics and the controls are interesting. I do think that this should be premium with characters being unlocked as you progress. 4 out of 5 stars for me. I could never give a freemium game a 5 star rating # idk why but I don't ## Dailon80 Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2014 3,574 66 48 Program Director/Radio DJ Eos #16 Dailon80, Jul 27, 2017 I really like this for a FTP not too bad don't mind grinding too much since it is an RPG Sure wish it had been premium too Def worth playing though Kwadius Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2015 63 3 8 #17 Kwadius, Jul 27, 2017 I agree. 4 out of 5 for me Lost one star from its freemium service (energy timer and grinding to proceed story) However its definitely a tales of game on your phone and graphics and gameplay is as good as any other tales game surprisingly Will continue playing until i hit a pay to win wall
