Hello everybody, it's me again. This week I've ported a fan favourite, Letter Lattice, over to iOS. This game doesn't need much in the way of fancy intros or anything complicated like that. A single screenshot will do much more than I could ever decide to write about it. The game is essentially a nice and simple Wordsearch. The only difference being that, in this game, the entire grid is ONLY made up of letters from the word you're trying to find. In many ways, that makes this game both easier and harder than a standard Wordsearch. Some times the words are really easy to spot, and appear multiple times in the grid. Other times, it's like searching for a needle in a haystack. Each grid is randomly generated, so if you want to replay a level then by all means go for it. There are no time limits, so take your time, relax, and see how far you can get. Thanks for playing! Jayenkai -=-=- Note I still haven't got around to adding GameCenter or iCloud saves to my iOS framework. I'll probably work on that over the next couple of weeks. I honestly just wanted the ability to lie in bed and play this game, more than I wanted to add those features! But they are coming, or at the very least, I intend to add them if I can find my way around! Updates will occur as and when they're ready to go. -=-=- Letter Lattice James Gamble A regular WordSearch has you stumbling through all 26 letters of the alphabet, but those are too easy for experienced pl… $0.99 Buy Now Watch Media DetailsA regular WordSearch has you stumbling through all 26 letters of the alphabet, but those are too easy for experienced players. Instead, Letter Lattice sees you struggling to find words within a grid made up of only letters from the word itself. It's certainly a harder experience when the whole grid looks like the word you're searching for! There are hundreds of grids available to play through, with wildly varying difficulties. Dare you attempt them all!? Like most surprises really. Absolutely love it, James. Just needs a wee bit Game Center love and it's there. Right, sticking with this one, although my eyes start playing tricks staring at the letters. Great stuff. Jayenkai Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2011 254 0 16 Erm... Bum! Bolton, England Http://AGameAWeek.com #3 Jayenkai, Jul 25, 2017 Indeed. No-one's more surprised than me! I initially intended this to be something aimed for next week. I was *supposed* to be spending this week working on GameCenter integration in my game-dev framework, but somehow this just sort of fell together! A little test that the grid could fit on an iPhone screen.. Another test that I could get different fonts in (click the paintbrush).. A further test of a nicer starfield-based menu (certainly much better than Quadoban's menu, anyway!) Before I knew it I'd written most of the game, and still had time to spare! So I spent the rest of the weed adding a load of word bundles in, and by Sunday it was all ready to go. Everything just kinda slotted into place, and so I just uploaded it as it was. This week I'll be much more strict with myself, and definitely try to focus on the GameCenter stuff! *slaps wrist* Sorry Jayg2015 Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2015 3,734 41 48 Male Player 1 Liberty city #4 Jayg2015, Jul 26, 2017 Already hooked. It's like word search but wayyyyyyyyyy better. Jayenkai Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2011 254 0 16 Erm... Bum! I made a good start on it, yesterday, but need to decide how best to integrate highscores when, realistically, there aren't really any scores to work with in this game!! Maybe just a simple "# of puzzles completed" or something?! Update should be available some time next week, assuming I can get it all worked out. Thanks for being patient. At night i need white on black, during the day black on white, and I'm sure some out there would like random/mixedness. Jayenkai Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2011 254 0 16 Erm... Bum! I'll look into it. .. But in the meantime, be sure to give the lightbulb a tap.. Jayenkai Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2011 254 0 16 Erm... Bum! There's also a similar list for choosing fonts, too. Currently working on ideas for Badges/Achievements, but .. Honestly it's not going too well, other than "Unlocked X number of levels" and similar thing. *shrugs* I also still need to test that any of my GameCenter code actually works. So far I haven't done that! Should be ready to go in the next week or so, I hope. This has your signature style all over it, Jayenkai. For Game Center: I'd be more interested in a leaderboard than achievements (those are welcome too). Maybe just have a counter for how many puzzles you've solved and use that as a way to compare with other players. Just a thought. Keep it up! Jayenkai Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2011 254 0 16 Erm... Bum! Bolton, England Http://AGameAWeek.com #10 Jayenkai, Jul 29, 2017 Yeah, a simple "Number of puzzles complete" and maybe a "number of stars filled" to go along with it. Not much, but realistically there's not much more I can add.. I do like making nice big puzzle games like this, but they don't work very well with GameCenter!! I'll be popping it onto my iPhone and iPad later, and giving it a good playtest. If all goes well, I'll be uploading the update tonight, then waiting for it to pass/fail review!! Should be updating in the next few days, with any luck, then I'll move on to updating Quadoban in a similar manner. Jayenkai Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2011 254 0 16 Erm... Bum! The new colour and font pickers work as they should. Tap the paintbrush or lightbulb icons ingame for those. GameCenter is a little up in the air, and I'm honestly not sure if it's even working. If you play with GameCenter enabled, let me know. What "should" happen is that tapping the trophy in the titlescreen should bring up the top scores in the GameCenter wraparound thing. For me, at this moment in time, it only seems to work on my iPhone, not my iPad. The iPhone's running iOS11 beta, so really that feels like it's the opposite of how it should be behaving!! Oddly, I AM seeing the scores from my iPad, even though the iPad is refusing to show the scoreboards. Very strange, but is somewhat indicative of why this was hard to implement in the first place! Anyhoo, it may or may not work for you. Please do let me know, either way, and I'll try to figure it all out before continuing to add GameCenter to any more games! Thanks for your patience, and apologies if it's broke!! ..still, at least there's more colour, now! Jayenkai Well-Known Member Jan 17, 2011 254 0 16 Erm... Bum!
