"Lowlander II is a great game, possibly the most enjoyable, largest and best produced game of its type available that’s not got the Ultima name attached to it. " - My Boxed Universe **** 1/2 stars from TouchArcade! Yarak means business. She ain't got time for you! Get that armor on- there's adventuring to be done! Generations after the mighty LOWLANDER vanquished the nefarious Azamon, a new villain has arisen. The evil enchantress, YARAK! The realm needs a new hero -- will you be the one? Styled after the early Ultima games from Richard Garriott, Lowerlander will make your iPhone 7 Plus feel like an Apple II+. That's a good thing! Plus, Lowlander's new sibling packs the same one-handed portrait-style gameplay that sensible people prefer! TouchArcade had this to say about the first one’s shameless imitation of Ultima II: “4.5 stars ... Lowlander is an interesting case, because it's not often that a game paying direct homage to a classic is actually better than said classic.” Unquestionably undeserved, but that’s high praise! FEATURES - glorious one handed, portrait-style, retro-RPG action - over 16 hours of minimalist adventure - explore a huge world, gain experience and rise in power - delve into dark dungeons for loot and riches - three save-game slots - save games to the cloud and download them later or to another device - no in-app purchases. buy once, own forever - special spell and environmental effects - OVER 8 colors - realistic moving water and lava Information Seller:Flat Black Films Genre:Adventure, Role Playing Release:Jun 14, 2017 Updated:Jan 02, 2019 Version:1.3.2 Size:34.8 MB TouchArcade Rating: User Rating: (13) Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal www.lowerlander.com[/center] Minimum iOS Version: iOS 8.0 Download Size: 37.2MB jsrco Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Oct 15, 2009 2,134 1 38 Coordinator Seattle https://www.Fatthunder.com #2 jsrco, Jun 7, 2017 Tease! bsabiston Well-Known Member Nov 8, 2014 495 26 28 Austin, TX http://www.flatblackfilms.com #3 bsabiston, Jun 7, 2017 Ha! A bit early - I couldn't figure out how to time a rolling Thursday release after putting it into soft launch. Tomorrow I'll post some promo codes, since Thursday is our "official" release day. Also anyone know how to get TA to change the title of this thread so it doesn't say soft-launch anymore? Oscar Streaker Well-Known Member Dec 20, 2011 182 2 18 #7 Oscar Streaker, Jun 15, 2017 Bought the original, but couldn't get into it. I'm not a fan of games with food management. Constant near-starvation and lack of gold to address it = unfun. Is Lowlander II any better in this regard? bsabiston Well-Known Member Nov 8, 2014 495 26 28 Austin, TX http://www.flatblackfilms.com #8 bsabiston, Jun 15, 2017 Hey Oscar, I feel your pain. Lowerlander does not dispense with the food, but a conscious effort was made to make the second game smoother upon entry. That is, it is not as difficult to survive like the first, and so hopefully you would not experience the same frustration just fighting to stay alive. In the first game, that was a nod to Ultima II's harsh difficulty. But having done that already, I'd rather people have more of a chance to get farther into the story with Lowerlander. If you decide to try it, drop a line here and let me know how it went. Oscar Streaker Well-Known Member Dec 20, 2011 182 2 18 #9 Oscar Streaker, Jun 15, 2017 Cool, glad to hear you made the start a bit more forgiving! I'll give it a go. Thanks! tjb Well-Known Member Aug 1, 2012 133 2 18 #10 tjb, Jun 15, 2017 Played the beta, bought the release. LOVE this game. The writing is great and the story is goofy but at the same time a true RPG story. Awesome big world to explore. Really loved it. Take the plunge! sabre31 Well-Known Member May 22, 2012 58 0 0 #11 sabre31, Jun 15, 2017 I bought it for my iPhone just now but wish to buy it for Android as well? When will Android version release? I've found a bug where accessing the map directly after entering a new area causes all the tiles to turn to 'Deep Water'. If you quit to the main menu and reload it fixes it, but otherwise you are stuck! This happens in both the opening town and the Baby Dungeon. I'm on an iPhone 5s, OS 10.3.1. Can send you a screen grab if required. Loving the game so far. Quoad Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2015 1,108 217 63 #15 Quoad, Jun 15, 2017 Yes. I am enjoying this, but finding the repeated post-menu respawns in non-navigable deep water a bit of a hindrance. bsabiston Well-Known Member Nov 8, 2014 495 26 28 Austin, TX http://www.flatblackfilms.com #16 bsabiston, Jun 15, 2017 Yes, I'm really sorry about that guys. It was something I stupidly added at the last minute to try to improve slowdown on older devices, and I ended up breaking the game I'm not sure yet how many devices it affects but Ive submitted an update and asked Apple for an expedited review to get the fix out there ASAP. gmattergames Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2013 607 42 28 #17 gmattergames, Jun 15, 2017 Just started, like the improvements, but already frustrated by the stealth-play in Castle Sebastian. I get it, just watch the patterns, etc, etc. The problem is, enemy LOS is difficult to determine and able to,move diagonal while the player cannot. The real frustration is no matter how careful, once sighted, guards will give chase until you die or leave the castle. Fortunately, they have no path finding, but still, due to the placement of guards, once spotted, your doomed. This wouldn't be so bad if you could save game, otherwise it's a futile exercise in trial and error, and ultimately patience. Mine is about spent. tjb Well-Known Member Aug 1, 2012 133 2 18 #18 tjb, Jun 15, 2017 Yes, that part was tedious. I just plowed through it anyway though. bsabiston Well-Known Member Nov 8, 2014 495 26 28 Austin, TX http://www.flatblackfilms.com #19 bsabiston, Jun 15, 2017 Hey qmattergames, I was worried that people might find that part too frustrating. It's the only section like that in the game, if that helps at all. Also here is a tip - if you get into a corner where they can't see you and you just bump into the wall, they will move a step. So it's easier to stay in one place and make them move. sonarun Member Sep 12, 2013 5 0 1 #20 sonarun, Jun 15, 2017 qmattergames: I agree, that part is pretty frustrating. I would love to have a way to automatically fight an enemy when you bump into it. If it is friendly, talk, enemy, fire. It's frustrating to be bumping into enemies and them attacking you when you would have had the first hit. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
