EightRooks Well-Known Member Jan 13, 2012 627 0 0 UK #7 EightRooks, May 24, 2017 There is no Gamecenter cloud support, just Line's cloud, Facebook or Google. (I don't know if it has controller support, I don't own one. It's designed for swipes and taps but I guess it'd be possible, at least?) I'm fairly impressed with what I've seen so far though I suppose the one thing that worries me is... sure, it's not a "proper" fighter, but you can see in about five minutes that it's way, way, way above Injustice 2 (much as I kind of like playing that as well). The AI in the asynch multiplayer feels frankly unbeatable. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's not, GIT GUD, etc., etc., but jeez, after Injustice 2... this thing will bounce you off the walls for days. Blocking is very much not optional. Single player is fine so far, but multi? It's a little dispiriting to go straight to feeling like there's no way I'll ever win a single match. Jackaluk Well-Known Member Jul 3, 2015 401 94 28 #8 Jackaluk, May 24, 2017 Hope it does have controller support! Never been into Swype and tap, just glorified fruit ninja. Fighting games benefit from a controller, and if we had more games that could benefit, there would be more controllers out there! I'm just moaning, more people should buy them, nimbus in particular. Then buy a mount so you can attach your iPhone from ali express for like $1 it's the ultimate handheld!! Progression seems really hard. Love the graphics. Nytehawk Active Member May 23, 2017 33 0 0 #12 Nytehawk, May 25, 2017 The game's fun and has a lot of personality behind it. It tries to stay true to the original Skullgirls game(s), and sort of does, but the AI's blocking and sheer difficulty is a bit annoying. The fighting itself is polished, not as much as, say, Marvel CoC, but much much better than Injustice 2. Overall if you like fighting games, try it out! Maelwolf Well-Known Member Mar 18, 2016 134 1 18 #13 Maelwolf, May 25, 2017 The AI turtling was just added a few days before launch and has been brought up on the official forum as having dulled the combat. The devs seem pretty active on the forums, so hopefully they get around to fixing it. Previously combat had some exploitable moments, but was way faster paced and more fluid. For now investing in unlocking unblockable rushes on characters skill trees, and equipping abilities that bypass blocking is your best bet. zinkdogg Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2013 86 0 6 #14 zinkdogg, May 25, 2017 I've heard of Skullgirls before, but never got around to playing it. I downloaded this yesterday afternoon and am having a ball with it. I absolutely love the art style and the gameplay feels really smooth. The only things I don't like is the FTP and online only requirement. I would've much preferred this to be a premium game. An offline mode would be nice, especially after I just tried to load the game up and got an "undergoing maintenance" alert and can't play until 17:00. Just annoying. I would love to see a Samurai Showdown game done like this. EightRooks Well-Known Member Jan 13, 2012 627 0 0 UK #15 EightRooks, May 25, 2017 I have to say I lost the first few times I tried the multi but then managed a few wins after that, so it's far from unbeatable. Careful use of your supers, even if it's just timing them right (as in, not thinking about debuffs) seems to help a great deal. Unlocking more of them is good too... the AI doesn't block forever. And the singleplayer seems far more approachable, at least to begin with. It's still much tougher than Injustice 2, though! I can't remember when I last lost an Arena match on that game... (not saying I'm good, just with a powered-up team and always picking the advantage it feels very easy most of the time.) MintCity Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2016 200 1 18 #19 MintCity, May 25, 2017 I understand that a lot of TA members "would have bought this if it was a premium game with no IAP" but that simply cannot happen nowadays. I wish that could happen but it won't. We are simply the minority now. It has been proven time and time again that this model works (look at Marvel CoC, Transformers FtF, Injustice, and Injustice 2). It's extremely lucrative and keeps the company loaded with funds to produce more content and keep the game going. I also think that a lot of the f2p elements are there to extend gameplay and imitate depth. Admittedly, Skullgirls has some of the deepest combat/customization out of any of the mobile fighters I've experienced but it ultimately boils down to pretty simple gameplay that can get old after a while. Just my opinion. I've just seen a lot of people post that aforementioned quote even though I thought people wouldn't be surprised by now.
