It's a fun game. You won't regret picking this game up. Fully offline, non iap non ad non bloat ware. Being offline was the biggest selling point for me, being incredibly fun and addicting was just an added benefit. Logged over 70 hours so far(it keeps track of total play time now). There are plenty of people with over 200 hours on the leader-board. If you like incremental or crafting games I really recommend this one, it's more complex than an incremental game but it's at least in a related genre - you start with nothing and build your way up through various levels of primitive technology until you have a successful village etc. It has a new game+ / prestige system which is always nice to have in this type of game. It has a really nice feature which I particularly like - if there's ever a new item you can't work out how to craft, you will discover parts of the recipe when crafting other things, meaning you're never completely in the dark about what to do next. In some other similar games (Doodle God was one example IIRC) I ended up just randomly combining things to try and get the next recipe, which I found extremely irritating. How the crafting works in Dawn of Crafting is much better. Georgina Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Jan 30, 2010 361 7 18 Sydney #5 Georgina, May 29, 2017 There's a lot of potential here. The graphics are plain, but they're functional, and the crafting is a lot of fun if you like that sort of thing. (I like that sort of thing.) But I'm guessing there's a reason most players play 20+ hours and not, say 30+ hours, and that's because progression falls off a cliff at around that time. I was enjoying the gameplay so I kept going, but when you make hundreds of an item with a 60% fail rate and your skill goes up only a couple of tenths of a percent, there's just too much repetition for too little reward -- especially when you're also required to craft food all the time to give you the energy to do everything else. There are hints of a larger game with the village you're ostensibly building, but in all my hours of gameplay I found few rewards for doing so. A couple of people joined my village, but they didn't do anything or change anything or give me any benefit at all. The only one I discovered who did so was the Spoiler merchant , but I rarely wanted what he was Spoiler selling anyway. Ultimately, I can't quite recommend this (especially at $4.49 Australian), but I can recommend keeping an eye on it, I suppose. Esqarrouth Well-Known Member Oct 13, 2016 214 6 18 Dev Land of Stone #6 Esqarrouth, May 30, 2017 The screenshots in API looks good, I don't know why its broken here. http://appshopper.com/games/crafter-game Doodle God and Alchemy irritated me too with random guessings. I'm glad you liked Dawn of Crafting! Esqarrouth Well-Known Member Oct 13, 2016 214 6 18 Dev Land of Stone #7 Esqarrouth, May 30, 2017 Hey Georgina thank you for your feedback! About fail rate, that 60% is actually success rate, but I know at times it does feel like fail rate. We're aware of the progression cliff, the reason for it is, there are no new mechanics after certain skill, its just better versions of the same items. We also don't expect people to go up that cliff in their first generation. (But some have!) Thats what prestiging and generation items are for. I guess we need to explain this a little better. Spoiler The cliff disappears instantly when you equip a -15 glove. About village, there are Spoiler mating chambers , Spoiler archive , Spoiler toilet , Spoiler storages that are useful at the moment. The village is not complete, we have plans of adding a lot of new mechanics and content in there. People joining your village is just the first part of it. What do you think would be a fair price for this game? Georgina Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Jan 30, 2010 361 7 18 Sydney #8 Georgina, May 30, 2017 Yes, 60% success rate, you're right. The prestiging is not referenced anywhere in-game except on the screen you see when you click on the mating chambers, right? As you say, it might be useful to put some more information clearly outlining what happens and how it works, because as I wasn't interested in starting from scratch, I'd glanced at that screen and then kind of forgotten about it. With hindsight, I think I may have fundamentally misunderstood what Dawn of Crafting is about -- I didn't realise prestiging was such a significant part of the gameplay. I do have an Spoiler archive and can make Spoiler tablets (blank ones) , but I never did work out how to use them. Perhaps a skill of mine is not high enough. I've built the other buildings you referenced, too. As for price: I feel like I paid for a beta. Some people like playing works in progress, but I'm not one of them, as my gaming time is limited. I would've liked to have known the status of the game before I purchased it. If this were a completed game then the price would be fine. Esqarrouth Well-Known Member Oct 13, 2016 214 6 18 Dev Land of Stone #9 Esqarrouth, May 31, 2017 Actually, the last quest tells something about mating chambers: Spoiler Alf: Congrats. You can create an offsping and restart your journey by leaving the next generation some useful items or stats. Should I make this more obvious in someway? About starting from scratch, did you think it was like starting from 0 and missed the part about having item and stat boosts? Archive: We wanted to let players discover some of the mechanics themselves, was it a bad idea? Spoiler Have you figured out how to paint the tablets? I'm sorry the game wasn't up to your expectations, we'll try to get you the completed game you're looking for asap! Just to make sure, complete in your opinion: - No cliff - Useful village - Archive & Prestige mechanics explained better - Insert other stuff? Correct? The system calculates what its going to bring every second, thus before going it usually calculates how long the trip is going to last. It cannot determine how many of what you're going to fish before hand so if Minion uses too much bait there won't be enough energy left for him so he will go to negatives. This happens to less than 0.1% of the players and it isn't a big deal so I'm using my time to fix more important stuff Grika Member Jun 1, 2017 10 0 0 Senior Technical Writer Twin Cities, MN #12 Grika, Jun 2, 2017 Last edited: Jun 2, 2017 New villager "We just celebrated "The Running of the Bison," but they destroyed most of the village, including my hut.
