Slide either left or right to train your AI, handle the bizarre requests of Silicon Valley residents, and explore parallel universes. If you can keep your employees, your investors, the government, and the internet from tearing apart the fabric of society, then maybe you'll actually bring about the Singularity. But you'll probably just get arrested by the FBI. Or kidnapped by an obsessed superfan. Or consumed by a swarm of nanorobots. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Features: - Hilarious branching story overflowing with sci-fi weirdness. - Level up your dumb-as-rocks AI to the point where she’s millions of times smarter than every human who ever lived, combined. - Every time you play, you start in a new parallel universe; most are pretty similar to ours, but some have… diverged. - Meet characters like a hipster, an elder god, and a naked time traveler. - Learn how AI really works - and all the ways it can be both good and bad for humanity. - Find all 52 unique endings, such as the one where your cat Captain Whiskers enslaves humanity. - Music made by an actual artificial intelligence (ha ha, machines are coming to take all your jobs). Apps starring the AI construct CARROT have been featured by Apple, The New York Times, Good Morning America, and Wired, and are beloved by millions of meatbags the world over. * Note: iPhone 5, iPod Touch 6, iPad mini 2, iPad Air or later recommended. Brian Mueller, developer of Artificial Superintelligence, here. The game has a hilarious choose-your-own-adventure style story that's part Silicon Valley startup comedy, part crazy scifi epic. You're training your AI to see, to speak, to play games - all while trying to handle the bizarre requests of Silicon Valley residents. There's 50+ unique endings (they run the gamut from having your startup shut down by the government to getting swallowed by a swarm of nanobots) and this crazy multiverse setup, where each individual playthrough takes place in its own parallel universe. A.S.I. is the first game in the CARROT series of apps, which I'm sure some of you are familiar with. They all star the snarky CARROT A.I. construct and have been featured a bunch by Apple, with CARROT Weather receiving Editor's Choice and Best of 2015 awards. So, who will be the first to take their AI from the IQ level of a single-celled organism to one that's millions of times greater than every human who ever lived, combined? coolpepper43 ð® Spam Police ð Aug 31, 2012 4,615 7 38 On the toilet #3 coolpepper43, May 11, 2017 Wow, the CARROT series. I have all of your apps. CARROT weather is my go to weather app. I'm sure this is going to be great since the CARROT humor is so good. bmueller Active Member Jan 15, 2013 35 0 0 Antarctica #4 bmueller, May 11, 2017 CARROT says you're warming the cockles of her emotion coprocessor. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #5 metalcasket, May 11, 2017 I highly doubt she's saying that. Oh, and if anyone is at all interested in app development, Apple sent a film crew out to my home in the Philadelphia area last year to talk to me about my experiences developing the CARROT apps for iPhone and Apple Watch. Sooo much dialogue, but it was a lot of fun to write. If I ever got sick of writing startup humor, I could switch to making fun of government surveillance or peppering in all the research I've done on AI over the past two years. bmueller Active Member Jan 15, 2013 35 0 0 Antarctica #16 bmueller, May 11, 2017 The big difference (aside from the most obvious one, the setting) is the ongoing story and sense of progression. As you go, you're leveling up your AI by training it to do stuff like speak, recognize objects, and play games. As it gets smarter and smarter, the city grows around you and the people you talk to go from being super enthusiastic about AI to starting to question it when it starts causing mass unemployment due to automation, etc. You feel a real sense of accomplishment taking your AI from the IQ level of a mouse, to a bird, to a sheep, to a dog, to a monkey, and seeing what new skills CARROT develops as a result. The other big one is the parallel universes. Each playthrough takes place in a different universe. The first few are pretty similar, though you'll notice characters pointing out some small differences from our universe (like in how the US presidential election went). Then you'll start seeing some that have diverged wildly from ours, like ones where the city is completely flooded or ones where a virus has wiped out the world's population. There are even some where humans don't exist at all. That's the idea! I was definitely going for a "Silicon Valley" / "Office Space" meets "Rick & Morty" vibe. bmueller Active Member Jan 15, 2013 35 0 0 Antarctica #17 bmueller, May 11, 2017 Yes, if you reach a certain IQ level, it will carry through to the next universe after you die. Every so often, though, you'll encounter unique universes with separate storylines where you don't have to worry about leveling up CARROT at all. And there will be a few times here and there where you go back to previous IQ levels - that's mostly done as a way to unlock achievements you may have missed the first time through or to flesh out more of the story. There are also a few "special" IQ levels that you can achieve. Those... definitely don't carry over. bmueller Active Member Jan 15, 2013 35 0 0 Antarctica #18 bmueller, May 11, 2017 It wasn't so much the gameplay as the way it enabled me to tell a really unique story. There are just so many different ways that artificial intelligence can go, and so many little stories to tell about it, that this style of game just fits it perfectly. The end result of humanity building an artificial superintelligence runs the whole gamut from literal immortality to total extinction, so that the story was just crying out for a format where you could see a ton of different endings... and it needed to be one where you could reach an ending within a few minutes, then restart and experiment by choosing completely different options. The whole conceit of the game taking place across different parallel universes - and that those universes should overlap and intersect and play with each other - is what really ties the whole thing together. So you're not just dying and starting over from scratch. Every single playthrough is part of a larger story. MrMojoRisin Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 1,183 0 0 #19 MrMojoRisin, May 11, 2017 Is there anything randomized each play through, or is it completely deterministic based on our choices? bmueller Active Member Jan 15, 2013 35 0 0 Antarctica #20 bmueller, May 11, 2017 There's randomization in terms of the "random" messages that are shown in each playthrough, but there are also tons of story-based messages that show up at specific times and in certain orders. So it's a mix of both. (You must log in or sign up to post here.) Show Ignored Content Page 1 of 4 1 2 3 4 Next > Share This Page Tweet Your name or email address: Password: Forgot your password?
