TheIronBeagle Well-Known Member Jul 10, 2016 80 0 6 Hardcore gamer Gravity Falls #4 TheIronBeagle, Apr 26, 2017 So far I've finished the first campaign. I haven't unlocked the rest, but the first campaign was enough to hook me, and I might buy the rest. It reminds me of Mushroom Wars, but you can control your units and there are 3 different resources to build your castles, expand your territory, and create soldiers. I'm just wondering before I buy the rest of the game: are there plans for a content update eventually? I loved the first campaign but judging by how long it took me to finish that one and the fact that there is no endless or sandbox mode, it seems theres not much to do after collecting all the trophies. I would gladly pay for an online/local multiplayer of some sort, or a skirmish mode with the AI. BaronMunchausen Well-Known Member Feb 22, 2017 57 13 8 #5 BaronMunchausen, Apr 26, 2017 I'm loving everything about this game so far. To the devs, the only criticism I have is that every time I move around the map, whenever I lift my finger, the screen/map continues to scroll/move for a bit, which gets kinda annoying and jarring (it's almost like it's just too sensitive to touch). Anyway, I'm sure it's a simple fix and will hopefully be addressed soon in an update (please!). I'm buying the full game anyway 'cause it's really fantastic. Support these guys and this beautiful game! P.s. In response to Ironbeagle...I'm not sure if there is one yet, but I too would love to see an endless mode. Yeah, pretty great game, odd but fantastic graphical style. Quite a bit more involved than the usual Galcon/Mushroom Wars or even Slay for those old enough to remember it. I'm really enjoying it enough to unlock all content. Bit of a story thrown in with different elements introduced in each mission, the last mission in first campaign was quite tough even on normal (there's no easy as apparently we don't deserve it) Map variety quite varied. Also reminds me a bit of 'Crush Your Enemies' as you've got to think and move pretty fast, especially on higher difficulties. It's very polished and free to try with one premium unlock, definitely worth a try even at 1GB+. The more I play the more I like. Edit: I should add that even though it's a RTS, you can play at whatever speed you like, slow and calculated all the way up to super speedy requiring split second decisions and off the cuff intelligent A.I. attacks to repel while simultaneously trying to build a huge army, because in the end the higher number of troops generally win. Light Arc Studio Member Apr 21, 2017 19 0 0 #8 Light Arc Studio, Apr 26, 2017 Hello from Light Arc Studio (aka the developers) everyone! Thank you for all the appreciation in the comments! It's what inspires us to keep moving forward in this saturated market. Please leave a review for the game if you have been enjoying the experience we spent the last few years crafting. We are extremely indie and every like and share will help us grow (or at least break even) as a company. This leads me into the thoughtful comments about the size of Castle Battles. Thank you for making the space! We made few compromises on quality for the audio (a 130+ minute OST is unheard of in indie), the visual, and fully cast narrative as well. We hope you find it worth the 1GB! There is a "Quick Match" mode on the main menu that unlocks after the first few levels of game-play. In it you can play with our algorithm to generate wacky "rorschach esq" maps that keep matches balanced and fresh! We hope you all get some extra play-time out of that! Nearly every beta tester and a number of commentators have requested a "multiplayer mode." We are genuinely excited about adding more content like this to the current version, but we need to see enough sales to justify the quantitative effort we have already put into Castle Battles before we add more to it. In other words, please tell everybody about the game! We love making the games we want to play and we want to play them with our friends too. We'll keep an eye on this thread and pop in to assist with any more questions you might have. Thanks again! May your moustache guide you to victory, Cleveland T. Highly recommended... orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 2,000 150 63 #11 orangecan, Apr 26, 2017 I've only played the first level and I really enjoyed it but unless I'm being really stupid and it gets explained in the next few levels Idont quite get it. I'm building castles that sit next to gold coins to expand my terrirory, get gold and build soldiers to capture enemies. I get that. What I don't get yet is the relationship between gold, soldiers and gems (if that makes sense). I generate gems to build castles I think, but I don't get what the green virus looking things are or what the amount of gold I have means or why the value of gems means. It's probably me being a bit silly and I'm going to feel very daft if the next level explains all..... Light Arc Studio Member Apr 21, 2017 19 0 0 #12 Light Arc Studio, Apr 26, 2017 No problem @orangecan The mechanics are explained over the first few levels, but here are the essentials to help you conquer your foes: Stone (grey)- used to build castles Gold- produces soldiers automatically Harvested Land- (green) slowly upgrades castles All three of these resources are automatically farmed from the blank "empty" hexes within your castle's borders. Resource hexes provide far more stone, gold, or fertile land than empty land. Build near these hexes to increase your bounty and chances of victory. Multiple castles around a single resource don't farm more from that hex, so spread out your territory. Upgraded castles have more health, expanded borders, and collect more resources. If you're waiting to gather more resources, hit that fast forward button at the top right to speed up time. This isn't a freemium game built on microtransactions after all! I hope that helps.
