Mrwubbs, there is a timer for the combos that runs out, you have to get yourself to the next cannon or platform before that timer disappears for the combos to keep multiplying. That's right, the combos will just give you coins. The bomb power-up allows you to zip past obstacles by destroying them when you crash into them.
