It is definitely important to know that information, such as: how much will the future episodes cost and when will the next one be released (just an approximate time, if successful). It seems strange they don't have at least a little more information on those things. It effects a person's decision on purchasing a product if they have unanswered questions or vague information. However, I do agree that if it is your type of game, get it. It will support them in making future episodes BUT that doesn't mean you have to blindly invest just because they are an indie developer. Just weigh your options and analyze what is tangible now (instead of future content) and make a decision off that! Edit: I forgot to say I purchased it and will leave some impressions later! I'm always down for a match-3 style RPG. This one seems like a pretty unique, story-driven take on the genre. Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #10 Pitta, Mar 15, 2017 I was lucky enough to play this since yesterday. Actually, it's FANTASTIC. I have no idea if this 'Episode 1' will end with a cliffhanger, won't continue, or if it's short (I've already played 3-4 hours) but so far it's awesome. It's blend between Banner Saga, SteamWorld Heist, Puzzle Quest and Dungeon Raid. Yet is super original and feel fresh. It's also super polished (great graphics), plays wonderfully on both iPhone and iPad with iCloud sync. Just the skill tree (and you will need those skills) is MASSIVE (you unlock it 2 hours in). I wouldn't sit on it, even if calling it a match-3 is not really true...you can even just move/match just one color. The core mechanics is trying to build up your powers as in Dungeon Raid while positioning yourself in advantage positions, possibly away from enemies reach...BUT you must be sure to leave some connected colors for later movements, unless the AI clear those preventing you evading the enemies. All wrapped in a cool story. So far is another solid GOTY contender for me (together with Kingdom: New Lands and the upcoming Card Thief with I had the privilege to beta test for over 50 hours). aussiepaul likes this. maxbrickem Well-Known Member Aug 25, 2009 327 0 16 #11 maxbrickem, Mar 15, 2017 Thanks for the video appunwrapper this game looks awesome! I'm only an hour in. It's really striking in both the way the mechanics work as well as the production value. I'm thrilled to hear that the skill tree opens up at 2 hours in and is in depth. Good sign! I think the developer is doing a disservice by saying "episode 1". Just say how long the expected gameplay is for this section ("over 10 hours...) and then say that more adventures/expansions will be released soon. I would approach this as more of a Pathfinders or Sentinels. In other words, you are buying a great game for $3 that will have more content coming on a regular basis. If you love it, it's great to have more premium content for a reasonable price. If not, you got a great game for $3. I just don't think that looking at it as "unfinished" is fair or helpful for the devs. Anyway. Don't get too caught up in terms. It seems like a lot of premium content for the price and it's very fun and original. Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #17 Pitta, Mar 15, 2017 For what it's worth I'm on chapter 2 already, played over 6 hours, and no end in sight. (Even if it ends in a hour, it was totally worth it). Actually, chapter 1 is really just an appetizer. Ranged weapons and area control/effects change EVERYTHING (chapter 2). It's incredibly brilliant....so good and fresh I'm actually amazed nobody thought about this mechanics before. Also, at a certain point you unlock something I won't spoil that let you replay any mission at will (and some are brutally hard, and there is so much to grab I find unlikely anyone can complete all missions and side quests plus extra objectives at first run-through), making the game almost endless. The mechanics are so good that I would love a mp async version where each opponent select a character/playstyle and some skills, and then they fight over the board. I really recommend the game. Misguided Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2009 2,346 19 38 #18 Misguided, Mar 15, 2017 Very early impressions (not as far as Pitta): Controls are incredibly tight (seriously, why doesn't every game feel this good to play) Production values are off the charts. Slick, if cartoony, visuals. Music that enhances the atmosphere. Nice particle effects. Oozes quality. The story is compelling so far, IMO, but everything can be skipped or avoided if you don't care. From the moment I saw the conceit of turning the grid into the floor with an isometric view, I knew combat was going to be great, but it's actually even better than I thought because you have to factor not only gathering and your own positioning, but also potential paths an enemy might use to reach you. I've just gotten powers, so I haven't seen anything fancy yet, but I like what I've seen so far. It's engaging and makes me stop and think about my next move, while having a familiarity that makes it feel natural. It's not a match-3, but anyone that has played a dungeon raid style game should feel right at home. Moreover, I think strategy RPG fans who don't like match-3 games will probably find this appealing. My one (very minor) complaint thus far is that the camera zoom during combat is a bit aggressive for my tastes, but it hasn't made me nauseous, so no big deal. aux80 Well-Known Member Jul 5, 2014 61 0 0 #19 aux80, Mar 15, 2017 That all sounds very encouraging. I was on the fence about this game, but it sounds like it has the kind of depth I was hoping for. Multiple chapters and the option to replay any level sounds fantastic! Hopefully there will be more content added later, but that could be a long shot. Most devs just dump a game and go these days. imdakine1 Well-Known Member Aug 23, 2011 1,228 22 38 #20 imdakine1, Mar 15, 2017 I agree with the comments of wanting some clarity on what it means as episode 1 and other comments on describing it or sharing thoughts do the future.
