THE NETHERLANDS #5 ROGER-NL, Jan 26, 2017 Thanks for the offer for a Promo Code but I always like to support Indies who make a fun game, so I will buy some IAP. I am on level 13 now, I like that you only need to shoot those three red birds to advance, I first thought you needed to kill all those birds on the screen, you can but it effects your score, most other birds just try to hinder you, very fun concept. The only thing I miss is Gamecenter with an overall Leaderboard to see scores from other people and to see how well you are doing. bitcraftstudios Member Jan 26, 2017 20 0 0 United States #6 bitcraftstudios, Jan 27, 2017 @thumbs07 Thank you ! We are glad you found the concept fun. Thanks We agree... We know thats a big missing peace. We will definitely get that soon. But, honestly, to get this game this far, without compromising on the quality and fun part, itself was a huge task for a single indie, which is why its missing ( i had been saying 'we' all the time, to sound like a big company or something, but in reality, there is no 'we' here. i am the only guy, sitting alone coding and dreaming about my game to take off... I got some help from an awesome freelancer though to do the artwork ) Thanks for your valuable inputs! If you don't like some thing, after playing the game more, please let me know. This is my first game, so I am not an expert at everything yet. It is not in the current release. That was in the original plan, and actually some of the work was done, but halted later because of the lack of clarity & judgment on whether players are going to like that model for this game or not. Not a problem at all to do that, if players want it. Do you think that model works out for this game? bitcraftstudios Member Jan 26, 2017 20 0 0 United States #10 bitcraftstudios, Jan 27, 2017 Sometime back, I got a little comic designed, to convey the back story of the game, so that players can connect with the game better. But, for various reasons, I couldn't make it to be seen by a wider audience (which I feel little sad about it). I am always a big fan of cartoons and comics. After looking at the conversation here, it felt like people really like the cartoon stuff, still... just like I do. So, I thought I would share that comic strip here, as I feel that it deserves to be seen by at least few art lovers. Please let me know your opinion on it (and pardon me for any mistakes in my english there). --- Arrows & Sparrows - Back Story Comic --- --- THE END --- gsmcandy Member Jan 28, 2017 6 0 0 #11 gsmcandy, Jan 28, 2017 thanks for the code. its funny and additive, but powerups are very expensive. we can earn 60 or 70 feathers in each level but powerup costs 1000, which means you need to play atleast 15 levels to purchase one powerup. may be 500 for a powerup is fair. Jebudonga Active Member Sep 20, 2013 31 0 0 #12 Jebudonga, Jan 28, 2017 Original Game Concept Your game concept seems original. I finished few levels and felt a smooth transition in difficulty. Nice power ups but just a bit more expensive to earn with gameplay. But given 80 + future levels and few other means of earning feathers, power up strategy seems OK to me. Background music complements the game pay. Jebudonga bitcraftstudios Member Jan 26, 2017 20 0 0 United States #13 bitcraftstudios, Jan 28, 2017 hi @gsmcandy, I am glad you like the game. regarding your feedback on the powerup cost, yes I agree that it is high. I thought about lowering the cost of powerups, but finally decided to keep it high. Please don't misinterpret it as a way to making money by forcing use. The reason for that is: i have designed ALL the levels to be cleared WITHOUT using any powerups at all. I have tried to build a little puzzle in every level.. if you can figure it out it, you don't need any powerups to clear a level. I wanted to encourage players to solve that puzzle, because thats where a player can get a kick out of the game. Powerups are fun, but I wanted to discourage players from using powerups to clear a level, as they miss all the fun. That is why I have kept the powerup cost that high. I am still a kid in the gaming field and trying to learn from my mistakes, so please feel free to disagree on my thought process on this. I won't mind. bitcraftstudios Member Jan 26, 2017 20 0 0 United States #14 bitcraftstudios, Jan 28, 2017 hi @Jebudonga, I have sent you a promo code. and thanks for linking the game. Regarding the powerup cost, all the levels can be cleared without using any powerups, and infact the game is more fun when its played without powerups. Though powerups can me some money, I personally discourage using those. It takes the fun out of the game. I think I failed to make it clear to the players that levels can be cleared without using powerups. I will try to convey that in the next update. Richpuppy New Member Jan 28, 2017 1 0 0 #15 Richpuppy, Jan 28, 2017 Interesting!! Game is interesting and addictive!! I read that you don't need powerups to clear any of the game levels but there is no easy way to figure out the trick to clear some of those levels. I think there should be a way to find that out. Anyways nice piece of work!! bitcraftstudios Member Jan 26, 2017 20 0 0 United States #16 bitcraftstudios, Jan 29, 2017 Hi @Richpuppy, I am glad you like my game. Thanks you! You are right. I too have noticed that in some youtube videos where they recorded the gameplay, and was wondering about that. I have tried to show the tricks in the first few levels, by displaying 'wait' and 'shoot' guidance expecting players to follow that and see what will happen by doing that. But, unfortunately, it doesn't look like its not gaining the players attention. Now when I think about it again, it may be because a level ends so fast, some times in few seconds, if the player doesn't pay attention to the birds - which is probably why players are not looking much at the 'wait' and 'shoot' help, and focusing on the birds only. It all makes sense now. Thanks a lot for pointing it out. Do you think providing a hint or something that pops up when a user is struggling to clear a level, would help ? bitcraftstudios Member Jan 26, 2017 20 0 0 United States #17 bitcraftstudios, Jan 29, 2017 After thinking about it for quite a bit, I began to thing that my thinking (that I have explained in you reply) may be wrong. If a player can get a powerup for every 6 to 7 levels instead of 10 to 15 levels, he can probably have a little bit of more fun, and may be helpful too for the players that are having trouble catching up with the increasing difficulty level of the game. I am willing to change that. But could use some advice here. Could any of you please express your opinions on this? After looking at your feedback on it, now I am much relieved to know that I did not do a mistake there. Thanks you Actually it is very hard for Indie developers to take it in a positive way when someone gives a feedback against their creation, especially for their first game.. mainly because they treat it like a baby, and t makes it really hard to see what the reality is - what players are thinking, etc. This is my first game, and to be honest with you, I was like that too - getting pissed off when ever someone gives me some negative feedback.. and then slowly people stopped giving me feedback.. Only then, I realized what I was doing.. that having/showing ego is not worth it and cuts down the chances of improving the game heavily.
