The game of Tic Tac Toe for iPhone and iPod Touch to always bring with you and challenge your friends or the computer! Challenge your friends in exciting games (also in Wi-Fi!) or test your skills and your strategy playing against the computer, provided of an advanced artificial intelligence. Enriched by elegant and colorful graphics, Wi-Fi Tic Tac Toe is destined to become an instant classic on iPhone, a fun pastime to enjoy alone or with friends. How to Play: > 2 Players through a Wi-Fi network > 2 Players on the same iPhone > 1 Player against the computer
Some impressions: What can I say, it's Tic Tac Toe, you all know how it works. The interface is clean and a pleasure to use, the SFX suit the feel of the game. There's no music, which to be honest is a probably good thing with Tic Tac Toe, since you'll likely be playing this in quick bursts and possibly in a public place, so annoying and repetitive background music isn't high on the list of essentials. The computer AI knows the game inside out and as such doesn't make any ridiculous errors, but at the same time remains perfectly beatable. Obviously the thing you probably want most with Tic Tac Toe is a multiplayer option, so it's worth pointing out that this game does not feature online multiplayer, only Wi-Fi on the same network. I don't necessarily see this as a bad point (though understandably some might) simply because with a game this basic there's not much to gain from beating people you don't even know. Local multiplayer (both Wi-Fi and 2 players on the same iPhone/iPod) is really where it's at. No online leaderboards because the only stats you can really keep track of in Tic Tac Toe are played/won/lost and tie, which are stored locally. Each user created has their own scores. If I had to think of a negative it'd be the icon, I think it'd look much better without the "Wi-Fi" bit at the bottom, although I can understand if the developer wants it there as a selling point. Not a huge deal by any means, but it's something. Possible updates: extra themes/skins would be nice, maybe unlocked after winning a certain number of games or getting a winning streak?
Tic-Tac-Toe, in my opinion, is the most pointless two-player game ever. No one wins if both players know how to play, and you only ever need to think two moves ahead. If someone makes a decent online Gomoku, I'm in.
The game is very well and the graphics and sounds are great. I did suffer some bugs though playing wifi, here goes. Devices - iPhone 3GS (3.0.1) vs iPhone 2G (3.0.1) We got through about 4 games when all of a sudden my device showed "O"s for the opponent when the opponents phone was showing "X"s. My phone which showed the correct "O" for me was showing an "X" on the opponent phone. Somewhere along the line the phones were either broadcasting the opposite or translating into the opposite. We dropped out (did not close the applications) and selected the players again with the same result. Both phones were on the same network obviously about 10 feet apart and only a few feet from the router so they had an excellent signal. There was lots of enjoyment up till that point. Not sure what caused it but will play again later.
