Regarding Civ Rev and crashes... The original game on iPhone/Touch did crash quite a bit. To make things worse, you had to go back to an old save file. 2K cleaned up the crashes and also added in autosave just in case you do have a crash. It seemed to be fairly stable after the update and autosave has come in handy. I also have CivRev HD for iPad. I finally got around to playing the new update last night. It is terrific. It really does look nicer and some other nuances have increased the enjoyment of playing. I ran into two crashes in the 3.5 - 4 hour game I played. I crashed, then I restarted and clicked 'continue' and crashed again. I restarted and clicked 'continue' and this time it worked. But I have never considered it all that buggy. I recommend leaving the game half-way through and going back into it. I have found I sometimes get a crash at some point if I power my way through the whole thing.
I heard the AI for civilization rev is rather bad...with AI opponents rarely getting out of the middle ages. Can anyone clarify this?
Christmas SALE (Dec 17): iPhone (99c): Civilization Revolution Sid Meier's Pirates! 2K Sports NHL 2K11 Borderland Legends iPad (99c): Civilization Revolution for iPad Sid Meier's Pirates! for iPad 2K Sports NHL 2K11 for iPad Borderland Legends HD iPhone & iPad ($2.99): NBA 2K13
I've considered Sid Meier's Pirates! before, but I might bite this time as I do eventually want to play it. Plus it's another console game gone ios. Which I find cool.
Nhl for ipad is pretty good, at least it's the best ice hockey game on the ipad. Too bad there's not more good sports games.
Deal on now. There's annoying ads on the iphone ver of Civ thou. And it doesn't seem like 2k is gonna listen and remove them anytime soon. :/ As such, I am not gonna get the ipad ver. At least Pirates HD is still working great.
Yeah I was reading reviews. Seems like some folks said they didn't have ads show ... But who knows. The main halting force for me for Civ is the bugs for the volume controls haven't been addressed after over six months. There are some issues with Pirates! as well though not as many. Seems like 2k is one of the laziest devs (or cheapest publishers if they outsource the dev work) on iOS... pretty much publishing and then abandoning their customers. I'm not sure i want Pirates! that bad.
