HotHamBoy Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2015 204 4 16 #3 HotHamBoy, Nov 12, 2016 That description isn't very good... From what I know, this is a digital adaptation of a physical game that released last year. It's a card-drafting game from the creator of Magic: The Gathering. pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #4 pjft, Nov 12, 2016 Yeah. Read mixed but positive things about the game on BGG. Am curious about the iOS adaptation, and about the expansions. Anyone here has experience with the actual board game and could comment on how this would work as digital? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #5 Talbs, Nov 12, 2016 Omg just what I needed. Another card game, which is my fav genre, amongst all these great releases. Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #6 Pitta, Nov 12, 2016 Did anyone tried it already? Is multiplayer async? I've tried to contact the dev but so far no answer (The boardgame dev, who did the digital port isn't mentioned where I looked). pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #7 pjft, Nov 12, 2016 Not yet, but as I'm kind of I'm need of something interesting for today, might buy it later. The two expansions seem to add some well needed variety to the game, according to some reviews, but should be good either way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Unseen Studios Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2011 121 0 0 UK #8 Unseen Studios, Nov 12, 2016 I took the plunge. Sadly the tutorial is broken and this is my third time getting to this state. I can't progress past this point. If this isn't resolved I will be requesting a refund as I can't even learn the game fully never mind what may be broken elsewhere. nkarafo Well-Known Member Mar 2, 2011 864 14 18 #9 nkarafo, Nov 12, 2016 Here are some reviews for the actual board game. It seems very very good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHfc06xCwzY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=212vZEsjcU4 I would like to know if it's good or not. I maybe wait for any ios review but for what I understand the actual gameplay it's somewhere between complex and easy which is good. Not too complex so that it's not frustrating and not so easy to got bored easily. I would suggest to developers to do like ticket to ride does: where in the same game one player (human) can play with iphone and the other player with ipad. This is so good! Please devs add it in the future. Pitta Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2008 3,420 148 63 Male Italy #10 Pitta, Nov 12, 2016 I've read/watched all reviews of the boardgame too last night. Knew nothing about the game before. Actually it seems really good...and from what I understood it could be even better in digital form, especially multiplayer. pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #11 pjft, Nov 12, 2016 Oh :/ what device are you playing in? Are you forced to go through the tutorial before being able to actually do anything else? Have you submitted feedback to the developer? @Pitta: from what I read from the game, given that the drafting is a big part of it and it's like 7 Wonders in that regard, I'm not sure how well it'd play async. That being said, we'll wait on hearing first hand confirmation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk slewis7 Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 3,768 41 48 Male Retired! Unseen Studios Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2011 121 0 0 UK #13 Unseen Studios, Nov 12, 2016 I am on iPhone 6s+. You aren't required to play the tutorial but I have never played the game before and wanted to know the rules. Tried to go online multiplayer and I had to register on a German site only to find there is no one online and a game couldn't be started. Tried a local AI game and got crushed by the easiest AI. Dragan Well-Known Member Aug 21, 2014 365 7 18 Belgium #16 Dragan, Nov 12, 2016 Some sign of life from the dev would be reassuring regarding some of the posts. nkarafo Well-Known Member Mar 2, 2011 864 14 18 #17 nkarafo, Nov 12, 2016 The fact also that the description is small and the trailer in the app store doesn't have audio at all, shows that maybe they rushed to bring the game as fast as they could... Luci0 Well-Known Member May 9, 2016 103 1 18 #18 Luci0, Nov 12, 2016 Looks alright.. but if it's buggy, il wait to see if the dev posts anything first before I buy. No bugs or crashes noted - which is ironic as more recently, it's my old iOS that's been causing problems with other card/board games.....yes SFT, I'm looking at you! # Impressions - the tutorial is fairly straight forward and initially lead me to believe the game was going to be a bit 'light' in complexity and depth and probably wouldn't hold my attention for long. Once I got in to the game proper and as it became clear that this is a straight forward points game but with multiple ways of scoring through various mechanisms within each 'phase' of the game, it began to grow on me. Especially when it clicked that this is more a 'Euro' style card game and nothing like Magic/Lost Portal/Ascension etc I beat the easiest AI first time but only due to the number of cards - the 2nd best score still tied with mine, so I'm guessing harder AI's will be a challenge. That said, I could see playing against AI getting boring very quickly - online multiplayer is definitely the way forward, not that I've tried connecting to a game yet so can't comment on availability of players, connections etc. The lack of any music is refreshing but also a little jarring - leaves it feeling a little stark and lifeless. The theme suits the cards/style but doesn't add anything to it in terms of creating a backstory or world aesthetic - you could pretty much apply any theme you liked (ie sci fi, mafia, sports teams etc) and it would still play the same. TL;DR - Good fun to play and more depth than initially thought but still feels 'light' in comparison to a lot of other CCG/board games (and their digital implementations). Not convinced it's truly worth the price tag if considering longevity alone - but it has polished visuals and runs solidly on my iPad, and despite the lack of music, it's fun to play - probably more so in short bursts though. Caveat - haven't bought the DLC so don't know how much this may add to the game? Would be interested to hear from others. pjft Well-Known Member Feb 15, 2011 1,082 8 38 #20 pjft, Nov 12, 2016 Thanks for the impressions. Looks promising. On BGG the expansions are rated higher than the original game so maybe they're worth it. How long does a game take, and can you quit and resume at will? Thanks.
