I see it isn't out in NZ where it would usually appear first. It's quite good actually. Will play this a bit more, but being a freemium i dont think it'd be long before i delete it. For what it is though, it's a pretty solid racing game. italodance Well-Known Member Aug 19, 2009 1,527 0 36 electrical Tehran-Iran #7 italodance, Oct 26, 2016 No money for stupid-freemium titles, Go to the hell Gamef***. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,045 623 113 #8 anthony78, Oct 26, 2016 From what I've played the F2P aspect is handled just as well as it was in A8, which I played for hours and hours without spending anything. touchy85 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2015 1,616 1 38 #9 touchy85, Oct 26, 2016 Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Don't really know what to think about this, mixed feelings. First there a lot of glitches and bugs and it doesn't run as good as it should, but that should be fixed when it launches worldwide I guess. Especially the bugs where the game crashes when I tried to claim my free car / free lootboxes. The racing still feels great, but not as good as Asphalt 8. The rubber-banding is ridiculous, opponents literally break near the finish line to let you win. AI isn't great either, but it it's not that bad. FTP is similar to A8, but there's now a wait for the car to repair system like in real racing 3. The menu UI improved, it's still way too convoluted but at least the UI doesn't feel like a puzzle game anymore. Best part of Asphalt Xtreme are the tracks, they're very clever. Totally getting a Motorstorm vibe. Overall I think it has potential to be a great game. I think I'll play it a little and then delete it. I haven't upgraded from my 5C yet and I don't need to have a game that I have to wait to play. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,045 623 113 #11 anthony78, Oct 26, 2016 Last edited: Oct 26, 2016 Are you talking about the upgrades to cars? Haven't seen any timers on those. Just need the required parts and some in-game cash to have them installed. There's oil that needs to be replenished. Haven't had to do that yet, but it also looks driven by cash earned in game. It appears there will be far fewer cars in this game than A8 so upgrading cars will be more essential. It also has same type of boosts that A8 had that you can buy before each race with the more rare premium currency. I absolutely hated Real Racing 3 for its timer system so unless I just haven't hit it yet after playing for 5 races over 30 minutes or so, I'm not seeing the comparison. Still seems generally as balanced as A8 was .... so far. And while I realize this is a soft launch, I'm surprised by the lack of response here given the mega sized A8 thread. Not that difficult to create a PH account. Anonomation ð® Spam Police ð Nov 22, 2013 2,339 4 38 New Orleans, Louisiana #12 Anonomation, Oct 26, 2016 That's largely due to the fanbass being "driven" away by freemuim updates. I know a huge chunk of people or mad that it went free a few times and then switched to freemuim. Let's say that a good amount of people still talk in the forum. Over the course of 2014 through now, the game has gotten harder and harder for non-paying player to enjoy the new content. dunhila Well-Known Member May 6, 2016 195 0 16 #13 dunhila, Oct 26, 2016 I unfortunately will be playing this despite the freemium build set because I love off-road racing way too much.I do wish Gameloft would care a little about the fans and try to balance the game out but it won't happen. To be honest Gameloft is in bad shape right now and even their PR is a disaster.I was one of the few people who were in favor of Vivendi taking over and hoping more AAA titles would be released faster and Vivendi would invest a lot in Gameloft but right now things are bad.I have to admit Gameloft was better off when the Guillemont family was running the show. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,045 623 113 #14 anthony78, Oct 26, 2016 But I think the game was like $.99 to begin with. I don't know. I still play A8 today and have probably sunk at least 100 hours into it and only bought one $4.99 car pack at the beginning. While the freemium pop ups got annoying, I always felt even after it went F2P that you could play a massive amount of content without spending anything, I even felt my $5 investment wasn't really necessary. Guess it depends on how big you were in MP. But for single player I found it to be an amazing value compared to crap like Real Racing 3. dunhila Well-Known Member May 6, 2016 195 0 16 #15 dunhila, Oct 27, 2016 Gameloft truly has an interesting game here.I love it so far in terms of gameplay, vehicles and the maps are awesome. The changes from desert to snow and ice on maps is awesome, the effects that the terrain has on smaller vehicles, these are some innovative ideas BUT the oil change timer is rubbing me the wrong way and it increases the time once you progress further into the game.Gameloft hasn't learned at all and so far this will be another forgettable freemium title because of the restrictions the game forces on you.I would have spend money if there were no timers but when I see a timer,I cringe hard. This is going to be top racing game. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,045 623 113 #17 anthony78, Oct 27, 2016 Well, finally hit the timer for the oil change. Two minutes and I've completed 16 races. Not too bad IMO. But we'll see how much it increases as I progress. Of course, I'm in the first group of tournaments for rookies but the races and tasks to get extra stars, if anything have been way too easy so far. But the gameplay is fantastic as is the track design. Some really wild stuff it's great environmental effects while driving in things like rivers at the bottom of canyons. Loving it! Oh, and no framerate issues on my iPhone 6S+. Runs like a champ. Anonomation ð® Spam Police ð Nov 22, 2013 2,339 4 38 New Orleans, Louisiana #18 Anonomation, Oct 27, 2016 I agree with you.
