The energy doesn't seem to restrict you as long as you're performing OK and getting sponsors and better contracts earn the currency faster. It seems weird to only participate in select highlights but it works when your performance does seem to influence the team as a whole. The batting is a well thought out risk vs reward thing, fielding is surprisingly satisfying when you run someone out or take a catch and the bowling is simplistic but fits the game as a whole. The whole career thing looks fun if you like accumulating stuff you don't need to impress people you don't like. It's pretty much every bit as good as New Star Soccer. The only downside is the lack of a progressive league pyramid - which is just reflective of cricket itself rather than a flaw of the game. The batting, fielding and bowling events all work very well, and feel different enough from the football version to stand out on their own. The energy system can be pretty punishing - it's hard to squeeze in much training - but as long as you keep performing well and show patience, you'll reach the top eventually.
