Do you tap on the enemies? How does it work? I might buy the game and do a full review. I just would like to know more about the control scheme. I love the art style. Did you do it all yourself? Billy alekm Member Oct 17, 2016 10 0 0 #3 alekm, Oct 18, 2016 Last edited: Oct 18, 2016 Thanks so much for checking it out and the feedback Billy! I think I need to make a short gameplay trailer as you're not the first one who mentioned this. Going to try to do that today/tomorrow. Everything in the game, art and development is my work, really happy you like the style. Gameplay: The way it works is, when you tap onto the screen, a missile will be launched there from an available turret. If there are multiple turrets on the field, they auto switch when one becomes available as they have a short reload time. Super-weapons, like lasers or stasis missiles have to be tapped on first, then fired. This is to give you some control over how you want to deploy them as they will give you an advantage if used correctly. Each level gives you a weapon layout that you have to use to the best of your abilities. -- Edit -- Tried to send you a promo code, your inbox is full though. Also fr only .99 right now is awesome!! The pixel style and gameplay are what drew me to it . I've only played for 30 minutes and can't wait to play some more ... Just needed to stop and leave this here so I didn't forget. LordShad0wz Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2014 4,286 1 38 #5 LordShad0wz, Oct 18, 2016 I have to say I've played a few minutes and so far I like it. The tutorial is pretty good at explaining things and showing strategy. I need to play more before I can give a full review but initial impressions are pretty good. It's fun. I really really like the artwork. I also haven't had any issues like crashes or lag or anything. I'm using the iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.5 Also is is a full premium experience. Billy alekm Member Oct 17, 2016 10 0 0 #6 alekm, Oct 19, 2016 Thanks to both of you for giving my game a shot. As promised, I've attached a YouTube video that has roughly 5 minutes of gameplay plus some commentary. If you don't want to hear me talking simply hit mute and blast your own tunes! The gameplay goes through level 6 and explains some of the mechanics and general gameplay. esty8nine Well-Known Member Dec 21, 2013 1,044 0 0 #7 esty8nine, Oct 19, 2016 Looks very interesting, no type of leaderboards or infinite score mode is there ? alekm Member Oct 17, 2016 10 0 0 #8 alekm, Oct 19, 2016 Thanks esty8nine, Nothing like that right now. I'm not oppose to leaderboards or infinite gameplay, its really just an issue of time. I've thought about both as well as an RTS mode or even offline mode. For now focusing on the continuation of core gameplay. Its really subtle, but this game is driven by a physics engine. Rockets are propelled by a force, and enemies pulled by gravity. Really trying to push for more interesting things in future chapters that use some of those things. Having said that, if enough people want certain features or modes, I'm listening. esty8nine Well-Known Member Dec 21, 2013 1,044 0 0 #9 esty8nine, Oct 19, 2016 Thanks for the reply LordShad0wz Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2014 4,286 1 38 #10 LordShad0wz, Oct 19, 2016 How do you use the first power up? I do have it in a slot but I do not see it anywhere on the screen? I'm on the 4th level. It really is tough getting that 3rd star. I actually like that. Billy alekm Member Oct 17, 2016 10 0 0 #11 alekm, Oct 20, 2016 Last edited: Oct 20, 2016 Hey Billy, Right now all the power-ups are passive. You're right, I should do a better job marking them in the UI, I've put that on my todo for the next release. As it stands, the first power-up increases your luck and spawns more stasis and explosive mines. I'm glad you think the progression and difficulty is enjoyable. The game is fairly easy to play but I've made sure to challenge you on 3 stars, especially if rewards are tied to that achievement. Alek alekm Member Oct 17, 2016 10 0 0 #12 alekm, Oct 20, 2016 Hey everyone, I've added a new app icon that I spent some time making to make this app a little easier to look at. Also, Billy, there is a new 'power-up' reminder on the start of each level to let you now what you have equipped. New build should be released tomorrow. Working on Chapter 2 as well as a sticker pack that I'll likely bundle with the game in a few days. You will be able to send an animated 'crusher invader' to your loved ones. Man did it kick my ass even with the second missile site lol I love it. Ladies and gentlemen I definitely recommend this game. It's a tough game but not so tough that I've broken my iPhone from breaking it. There's a nice sense of progression. After I beat level 4 I got a second missile site and in level 5 the enemy patterns have gotten more intricate and tough. The art style is fantastic. The tap controls work nicely. I think if I had to ask for something it would be when I press the screen to set the target for the missile there would be left a circle with the diameter of how big the explosion is going to be so I can guess where the next missile might need to go. Billy alekm Member Oct 17, 2016 10 0 0 #14 alekm, Oct 21, 2016 Thanks Billy! Your reply has made my day. I've taken some risks with the game and your comments make me think some paid off. My goal here is to bring everyone a classic feel in a modern game. A time where you bought your game, put in the cartridge and just played without any pop-ups or iAps. Glad you like the level progression. Its not clear from the videos, but I've hand crafted every level and I've tried to make the enemy patterns interesting and challenging. This brings with it a level of difficulty because you can't blindly shoot at anything that moves. You learn what works best and get better over time, as you've experienced. This game was not made to let you burn through levels, though some will be easier than others. Happy to hear its not frustrating. Later levels continue getting more complicated, would love to hear what you think of the laser and other enemy types (Shades & Zappers later on). Hopefully it never causes you to break your iPhone. If anyone has any other feedback, questions, comments, or suggestions please don't hesitate to Tweet, PM, or post here. I'm very committed to this game and I want to make sure everyone is having fun and getting the most out of this title. Stickers are coming soon, I'll try to bundle those for you guys and gals as an extra incentive to take the plunge! Thanks for your support, Alek PS: Not sure why the TA Invasion Defence icon hasn't changed yet? The difficulty is perfect and love the changes. I'll continue to promote on my social media heavily alekm Member Oct 17, 2016 10 0 0 #16 alekm, Oct 26, 2016 Thanks Jayg2015. Unfortunately the masses don't agree, and this game got no traction. Which is OK, this for me was about the learning, process and the love of games! This was a win for me personally. Working on Chapter 2 and debating making this a free game. Perhaps the $1 entry to 'yet another pixel game' is maybe a barrier. Thanks for your support. Stay tuned. If anyone wants to try it out, ping me for a promo code. No strings attached. Alek LordShad0wz Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2014 4,286 1 38 #17 LordShad0wz, Oct 27, 2016 Make it free and then $1 to unlock each chapter. But for early adopters we shouldn't see any difference. You might get more downloads. And make sure you hit as many iOS sites as you can to promote. Also wearing a mini skirt and heels helps is what I'm told. LordShad0wz - Yeah that's what I'm thinking, let people try it first before making the plunge. Another option is the dreaded "disable ads" IAP. Either way, looking at ways to reward early adopters, nothing more annoying then seeing iAps in something you purchased. Thanks all Alek (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
