The graphics are good, the level design (from what I've seen) is interesting, the controls spot on, and there seems to be a ton of content. Whether it ends up being a pay-to-win game, or the IAP are more about speeding up your progress, we'll see. I'll report back when I've spend a little more time with it. Phenomenon Games says once the game gets transferred back to their account they will update it ## But back to Vanquisher; awesome game! It does remind me a lot of the gameplay of MELTDOWN. You get to pick between two guns and a melee weapon. It looks like you can upgrade your weapons and skills too. But instead of the sweet barrel/dodge button, SAMUS has a dash button and an activation button (for ladders, computers and crates). There is also a stomp if you melee a beetle to death # This game is easily worth the $1 to play. I also don't see any IAP and I was looking for a coin or XP doubler but I can't find one. Edit: found the IAP store. It's only to buy coins, I don't see a coin doubler. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #15 squarezero, Oct 5, 2016 Agreed -- there'a really a lot to like here. There's also a fair amount of depth. Not only are there multiple upgradable weapons in three categories, they are also upgradable skills along three broad "classes." You can basically craft your character to have better defenses, better range combat, or better melee skills. My only complaint so far is that the enemies are a bit repetitive, though as you get further into the game, enemies gain new abilities -- they don't just get more HP. Also, the translation is fairly poor, On the IAP, it'a basically there to speed up your progress. Both currencies are handed out generously in gameplay. Interestingly, gems, which you use to buy new armor for Samus, it's not available for sale -- you have to earn it in game. ShelvsHotPencil Well-Known Member Jul 1, 2016 306 0 0 #16 ShelvsHotPencil, Oct 5, 2016 I just bought this game completed sector 1 It has 3-4 sectors Sector 1 had 10 stages 4 armors Bare bones weapons. Skills. Bosses This game is like Xenowerk. It's cheap, and addictive. This game has in app purchases ( not necessary) - I don't see why they included them This game is a really cool twinstick shooter. With Seamus junior following in the footsteps of her bounty hunter mom. Get it. Support the dev. It's a really good game. scape211 Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2012 318 3 18 Graphic Designer #17 scape211, Oct 5, 2016 Simple, but spot on. The main concern for everyone is of course the IAP and its completely unnecessary. I think the devs just want some money in the form of the initial purchase of a buck. The IAP is their only if you feel like supporting them or really just want to fly through the game. I think its IAP system is similar to the Infinity Blade games; their if you want it, but very reasonable to do light grinding to get what you want. More specifically, the game appears to have 2 currencies mainly to break up the types of items you can get (weapons mostly use coin, armor usually gems). The only item i have come across yet is the material needed to add core slots. Core slots are added items you can put in a weapon or armor to boost stats like damage or HP recovery giving you further flexibility. Cores appear to need certain color chips to create them, but i havent seen any in game yet. I am still in the first sector so it probably will come later and you cannot buy anything aside from the main currency (gold) with real money so it probably becomes available with natural progression. Im not a big dual stick shooter guy, but this game is solid, simple and fun that I even enjoy. I recommend it anyone. If you are on the fence...its a buck. Give it a shot. I want to see more developers like this - dont you? jpgold Well-Known Member Sep 21, 2012 1,818 56 48 Online Ad Sales - Pandora New York, NY #18 jpgold, Oct 5, 2016 Saw this yesterday and was hesitant as it was paid with IAP. Saw all the positivity around it and then the comparison to Meltdown sold me. What a nice surprise. Great dual stick shooter with upgrades, unlockables, and some light exploring. This is going to be a great week for premium games. scape211 Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2012 318 3 18 Graphic Designer #19 scape211, Oct 5, 2016 So since reviews are good, anyone find anything interesting about the game yet? Best weapons/armor? best places to farm? How to get items to put in cores? I know for myself I tend to play these games with distance in mind so weapon wise I use the trusty Assault rifle as my main since its got good range and kills pretty quickly and the Uzi as my side arm for when my Assault rifle overheats or when baddies get too close. The Uzi is awesome at chewing them up fast. Tried the Plasma rifle, lightning gun and Auto Shotgun; all not exactly my taste. Basically they all stall the enemy - The Plasma rifle shoots big balls of plasma that hit the enemy well and slows them down which isnt bad, but the damage is fairly low. Auto Shotgun can hit multiple enemies, but doesnt have great reach and still has a weak shot. The Lightning gun may be good for those who can hot swap weapons since it stops enemies momentarily within its beam. The beam isnt too long, but its constant so it can hit a few enemies and keep them at bay; possibly long enough to pull out a bigger gun to kill them fast or melee them. Still need to upgrade all those weapons so maybe they will shine more once they are higher level. yankeeblue000 Well-Known Member Aug 29, 2016 644 36 28 #20 yankeeblue000, Oct 5, 2016 Last edited: Oct 6, 2016 I was hesitant at first was thinking maybe I should pick it up cause it's only a buck the IAP's dont seem like the worst So I have changed my view due to all the possible reviews Thanks guys for helping me make up my mind I'm sure I'll have a great time especially now that I'm not going in all blind If you guys really like this game You should check out Smashing the Battle another good game for a buck The only bad thing about the game and mind you it's not too bad is that they put a huge button configuration that covers up most of the screens real estate Other than that it's really good (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
