I am not a hardcore sports / soccer fan, and this is simplified and dumbed down just enough to be approachable, yet still challenging.. Each unlockable captain, which there are 16 of, have different skills and abilities.. and each Captain levels up individually and has his/her own championship to complete. There are costume unlockables, as well as trophies to win. You can also setup and manage your team and there is an online league that lasts for one week at a time that you can join. There are more details to the game then this, but these are just a few of the aspects that I am enjoying. Overall, pretty fun little arcade soccer game. To answer my own question, I think this takes heavy inspiration from Mario strikers, which is a great thing! It's arcade soccer mayhem that's for sure. The controls take a bit to get used to, but that's understandable given the touchscreen is so far apart from the nunchucks of the wii. I've only played the brief tutorial and 2 vs games and it's been quite fun. No idea if it will hold my attention. I did have some frame rate slowdowns on a 6+, but other than that, the graphics are the usual CN superb quality. Neat Mario striker-esque game.
