The art style is appealing, but got old for me after about 5 minutes. You climb a big tower each floor at a time with ever repeating enemies or obstacles of very, VERY limited variety. Almost every floor requires one or more pixel-perfect jumps. You collect coins throughout you run to unlock new characters (purely cosmetic). I really like it so far. No Ads IAP is $2.99 and gives you a free continue. I like that there are separate leaderboards for continues and no continues. This is raw old school fun. I had about 255 coins and I was about to unlock the 250 character (after bunny) but it wouldn't let me move over from the witch; left or right. So I hit the in game home button and I lost all my coins! I tried it again later when I had about 70 coins and hit the in game home button and it knocked me down to 20 coins. # Has this happened to anyone else? Edit: it definitely keeps resetting my coins anytime I stop playing # I was up to 200+ again; stopped playing for a couple hours, came back and had only 20. The intro screen and the Ad load but then when I press Start it crashes. 4 times in a row. I have an iPhone 6 Plus, latest iOS version. More Speccy than Gameboy in my opinion and worth downloading for the music alone, even if you're not bothered about the gameplay - which I am. Hoping for more colours, a la Sheepy's games, and perhaps more music as unlocks? On a slightly separate note - I'd love to see some more games in this style but on a more classic platforming/exploration tip. Starquake is something that springs to mind as an inspiration. Really simple platformer, like Donkey Kong simple, with very unforgiving pixel-perfect jumps and maddeningly repetitive music and yet... I'm still playing it. The art style is super, and the games are really, really quick, so there's a real "just one more go". Might have to keep it till I crack the 50 barrier, if nothing else. Anytime I hit home or force exit the game after a game over, my coin progress is lost and I'm back to 20. I've also encountered some questionable situations: What happened here? Did I jump too early? I don't know how I could have survived this. And I think the inconsistent behavior at the start of the conveyer should be fixed. Edit: First to crack 50 without a continue!! We even have a new build from him already which we should be checking and submitting soon. For those who aren't aware Magic Mansion is a published game rather than one we created in house at Nitrome. The developer is Folmer Kelly who also releases games under his Sets and Settings brand. He is probably best known for his games with Colin Lane such as Wrassling, Battle Golf and Dunkers. We wanted everyone to know that like with our other games we always check the Touch Arcade forums to see what you all think of our games. We will reply to questions where we can though hopefully Folmer will be on here too and be better suited to answer any questions you have Glad you seem to be enjoying the game! If the dev doesn't already know, the Brick Breaker achievement might not be working. I've counted 31 bricks and it didn't unlock for me. Still very much enjoying playing this, I've bought up to the skater dog character despite the coin reset bug, so I've had some lengthy sessions Red1 Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Nov 26, 2010 2,011 6 38 Pre-occupied 42.1 #20 Red1, Aug 26, 2016 Played this game briefly, then deleted.
