Been playing all night. It's like a gamebook + card game + RPG + RTS. Or something. At first I was thinking ohhh well, not my type of game. Then it was 2 hours later. Really fun When the map opens up and you have more survivors it gets really fun. ## V Kuolema Well-Known Member Jun 30, 2011 431 27 28 Canada #3 V Kuolema, Jul 27, 2016 Really digging this game. The IAP is insane though. Got a "special starter bundle" with a survivor and some gems for 50% off so I thought sure. Figured it'd be about 5$. 10.99$ and that's 50% off. Are you kidding me? Gems are somewhat plentiful by watching ads or getting from fights. But it still pales in comparison to the prices. The cheapest survivor is I think 400 gems and the rest being 1000+. Buying supplies with gems is an absolute waste. 1.39$ for 250 gems. Which is such a small amount you can rush a few actions. You need to spend 7$ (I'm in Canadian dollars) to get 1400 which would allow you to buy a survivor. To buy all the survivors would require a significant amount of money to be spent. So I think the IAP is horrible. But the game itself is great. Eventually it gets to the point where you send your guys out then just wait. I've got about 20 minutes in and now I've got a 55 minute wait for them to build a hut. It's got some pop ups that give you choices and depending on your answers you'll get boosts or debuffs. Recommend downloading it and trying it. So far not spending a cent the game is mostly playable but we'll see how long that lasts before it gets unplayably long wait times. Roleki Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2012 432 0 0 #4 Roleki, Jul 27, 2016 So, what are the IAPs? forsakenxe Well-Known Member Oct 23, 2014 709 0 16 #5 forsakenxe, Jul 28, 2016 WoW this game's concept is truly great and lots of fun! ... but the grinding and payment models ruins it.... goddamn I was so into this until it became a waiting game after about half an hour I guess? What you do is you assign your party members to different tasks and then wait until they have completed them which in turn fills up a progress bar and after that bar is filled one of several things happen (depending on the assign tasks): - Built a building, gathered resources or explored a piece of map which unlocks more recepies or events. The events are well done, the writing is pretty good and even though the personal level of your dudes does not really reach x com level as they are just "your people" but i really enjoyed it. The problem is that your people will complete a task and add +9 to a bar of 160 points after 1 minute (which will progressively get worse) and then you have to repeat that until this objective is done ... multiple times, while not really having something else to do in the meantime. You can spend gems to finish the task more quickly and if you really want to experience non stop story you should. Point being is that those diamonds are very rare in my experience (adds give you ONE-TWO!) and the starter pack as someone mentioned is super expensive... Overall great promise with good writing and ok execution but ruined by the waiting game which heavily Incentives you to buy gems. Real shame. This is a total rip off. The timers for everything (gaining resources, exploring new lands, healing your citizens) go up to such big numbers after only about 30mins of play time, that it is just no game, without paying "constantly". And then they give you 2600 gems with the starter pack (8 bucks) and it seems much, but it is NOTHING compared to other free2play games. Its an absolute disgrace. Shameful product - wanted to like it, even spent the 8 bucks, now throwing it from my ipad. fabianb Well-Known Member Nov 1, 2014 1,009 0 36 #11 fabianb, Jul 28, 2016 Jep. Absolutely avoid this game. The game itself is actually good but the monatization is nothing like other F2P, it's way worse. So AVOID. Shame you lost your 8 bucks to them. It's sad since this game could be really good, but the developers totally ####ed this up. Nothing less, nothing more. storni New Member Jul 28, 2016 1 0 0 #12 storni, Jul 28, 2016 Love it A really nice game. Totally into it. Haven't seen anything quite like it before. I love the logbook/chat stories and the decisions you have to make... Really nicely designed for quick, frequent sessions. Not sure why people here think it's a ripoff. A fourth clash of clan worker costs $5 or more, timers are even longer there. Sure, you can't play non-stop for 8 hours, but that's not the point of this game. I really like how some timers are short - I play those when I have time, some are long so I'll start them for an overnight shift. Also the steam engine makes a huge difference with timers - that's worth every gem. fabianb Well-Known Member Nov 1, 2014 1,009 0 36 #13 fabianb, Jul 28, 2016 What are you talking about. The timers are NOT short. Or you just started playing. Also, CoC has a full battle system. Here, it's just swiping 6 cards and you have to wait again. No more than 30 seconds playtime before you have to wait again. adamphetamine Well-Known Member Jan 4, 2011 968 31 28 Programmer/3D Modeling Bethlehem, Pa #14 adamphetamine, Jul 28, 2016 Fun game for all of 30mins before timers get ya. Really enjoyed it but as is....it is a total ripoff so I recommend avoiding it unless major changes happen. Most of these free to play games are designed to be played incrimentally over the course of months and years. If they had no timers people would just blaze through them in a matter of hours or maybe a day or two, and that would be that. I think people are mistaken when they call it greedy or a ripoff, though. From what I have heard from a lot of developers not very many people buy their way past timers. Instead they're more or less in there to set "appointments" for you to come back throughout the day, and into the next day, and into the next day, and so on. There's more value in having a lot of daily active users than someone spending a couple bucks on a pack of energy or whatever. Please be more welcoming to new members. There is nothing about this person's account that indicates they're shady in any way. Perhaps they just have a different opinion than you and wanted to offer a counterpoint to the other opinions in this thread? What I can assure you of however is that new people like that will not become regular members with people greeting them in a hostile way. If I was that guy or gal I'd already figure I'd never be coming back to this forum after a response like that. Yerti1 Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Aug 8, 2012 301 0 16 #19 Yerti1, Jul 29, 2016 I get what you're saying, but I think this takes it to a whole new level. It happens very quickly in the game and I'm not willing to find out how it turns out. The 2nd or 3rd building is literally around 150 building which will take my starting guys 7-9 turns at 5 hours a piece. This would also make me unable to do anything else during all that time. I really think it's an absurd amount of grinding early.
