Escher's art, impossible objects and other geometric designs. The object is to construct the goal configuration from a number of pieces. Presented in a simple, clean design and minimalistic art, kubic is a premium game with over 60 escher-esque puzzles. When you click on a piece, it pops to the front-most layer, and may overlap other pieces. When you combine the pieces, they do not merge. If there are extra pieces, you may hide them behind the others. You can also lock layers and drag pieces without changing their layer order. You can also use two finger pinch to zoom in and out and drag the view for a better control. If you are stuck on a puzzle you can simply skip it and re-visit at a later time. Rest assured, all puzzles can be solved but beware, some puzzles are hard! Just take your time...Tip: It helps to plan ahead and build figures from back to front. If you truly get stuck, there is a in-game hint system. You can use it to get started or even get the whole puzzle solved. Levels divided in 6 groups: • Ocean - "2D" Shapes are basically two-dimensional arrangements. • Desert - "3D" Shapes appear to be three-dimensional, but remember to think in two dimensions. • Mountain - "Convex/Concave" These optical illusions are inspired by Escher's famous "Convex and Concave" lithograph. • Sky - "Up/Down" These optical illusions are inspired by the Penrose Triangle featured in Escher's lithograph "Waterfall”. • Escher - Based on letter designs that spell out MC ESCHER. • Print - Based on the printable magazine version of Convex-Concave puzzles. Kubic is localized and supports 12 languages including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish Game supports iCloud for progress syncing between devices. Convex Concave puzzles from the Heaven and Earth game are included with permission. The puzzles were designed by Scott Kim, Puzzlemaster (scottkim.com), and the Heaven & Earth team. Enjoy! TheGreatEscaper Well-Known Member Oct 10, 2014 1,025 22 38 #3 TheGreatEscaper, Jul 21, 2016 It's a very good puzzle game, I was involved in the beta. I won't spoil too much but suffice to say the game's puzzles have you building structures out of many 'building blocks'. The game is split into roughly 5 worlds. The first world is like a 2D world, a bit like a set of tangram puzzles using blocks. However there are a few tricks even here. The second world extends the constructions to three dimensions; or is it? The ways the blocks behave starts to get a little confusing here but by the end of this world you should have a solid understanding of the correct way to interpret the shapes. The third world is kind of a non-dimensional set of puzzles. The blocks themselves become odd non-interpretable shapes , but this world shouldn't be too difficult because you know the actual way the puzzles work now. The fourth world is building Escherian constructions. Lots of trickery here. No matter how familiar you are with how the game works it's so difficult to let go of your minds assumptions about the shapes. The final world is kind of a set of miscellaneous puzzles. Some of these spell out MC ESCHER. These are just fiendishly difficult. The game is kind of like a jigsaw puzzle, to unfairly simplify. But it's the most mind bending jigsaw puzzle you'll ever do! Some puzzles have a few too many pieces for my liking, but on the whole, they're cleverly designed and will have you shouting with joy when you finally see the correct way to stack the pieces together. This isn't a game you can trial and error through - you really need to think about every placement, and it makes the process all the more rewarding. I posted somewhere in another forum that this game is completely worth it, and it tests your abstract reasoning skills. Other than the great puzzles, you will find no ads no IAP and you are able to skip puzzles. $1.99 is a no brainer. I am having a blast manipulating the pieces around and discovering new uses for them. So far it's been time well spent. It's a nice relaxing game that'll drive you crazy in a good way. Be warned however, it's not the type of game you can complete in an hour the levels are insanely challenging. Alas, missed the promo codes to try out the game. Are you supposed to assemble the target shapes cube by cube? Do you also have to control rotation to lock onto certain "desired" perspective, sort of like constructing real-life analogs of impossible geometry sculptures that work only if the sculptures are viewed from a certain perspective? This is one of those games I think my dad will love. The puzzles are pretty mind bending so it's going to be challenging. The music is really nice and relaxing. The controls are pretty good for the most part. I do wish that I could select and move an entire structure at once. Also, making sure you have the layers correct can be a little difficult. I wish there was a way that I could see all of the layers of the pieces at once like an X-ray mode so I can see things that are underneath the pieces without actually selecting it.
