A-” - Just Adventure “Has its moments of laughter and sheer horror to excite any avid gamer who loves a good narrative. 9/10 ” - BagoGames A serial killer is terrorizing the streets of Victorian London, and private investigator Sydney Emerson has hit a new low between finding lost dogs and receiving alleyway beatings. A turn of events sees Sydney forgoing his selfish nature and thrusting himself into perilous and increasingly surreal situations, treading a fine line between dreams and reality. Explore the foggy streets of Victorian London in all its decadence and depravity, searching the slums, taverns, brothels and even Sydney’s abstract dreamscapes for clues, while meeting a host of interesting, insane and eccentrically British characters along the way. Features •A noir adventure laced with adult themes and dark humour. •A faithful recreation of Victorian London, from decadence to depravity. •Classic point and click gameplay in the vein of the LucasArts games of yore. •Explore Sydney’s surreal dream-world for clues. •Follow the trail of a killer, or drown your sorrows at the pub. •Original soundtrack blends film noir and traditional Victorian instruments. ***WARNING: THE SLAUGHTER REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 1GB RAM AND IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH IPAD 1, IPAD 2, IPAD MINI 1, IPHONE 4 (& OLDER IPHONES) OR IPOD TOUCH 4TH GEN (& OLDER IPODS)*** Information Seller:Alex Francois Genre:Adventure, Role Playing Release:Jun 29, 2016 Updated:Jun 03, 2021 Version:1.1.0 Size:76.4 MB TouchArcade Rating:Unrated User Rating: (4) Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel orangecan Well-Known Member Aug 9, 2011 2,000 150 63 #2 orangecan, Jun 29, 2016 Bought but won't be able to report till tomorrow. While the port gets the job done, it's the actual game that is just beyond fantastic. Everything from the delectable writing (Alex really should be playing with the big boys [Schafer, Gilbert] already) to the pixel art, to the absolutely killer atmosphere...guys, if you're remotely into classic Point and Click adventures, throw Mr. Francois your precious money and start gushing for Acts Two and Three to come out. I'm in the same boat. I'd pick it up if it was iOS 8 compatible. But I'm not ready to give up Monster Hunter. If the fix ever comes, then I'll have one more game to pick up I guess. rezn Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Mar 8, 2014 862 6 18 Male Coder/Keyer in medical ICD 10 Reno, NV #7 rezn, Jun 30, 2016 After that preview video and your rec I'm buying it. Might put The Slaughter right next to Chrono Trigger on my iOS 9 wishlist when that day comes. Oh, and possibly Lumino City and Fallen London. Back to this game's thread, though, this looks great. Anything that takes me back to 1990s P&Cs is a winner. Alexythimia23 Well-Known Member Dec 26, 2012 576 0 0 #9 Alexythimia23, Jun 30, 2016 What?! How do u know that?! So is it finally happening? Not saying you should or shouldn't buy it, just that it's a really tricky situation. Personally, from what I've been hearing about this game, I'll get my four bucks worth of enjoyment out of it even if new episodes never come, so I picked it up. In the first 10 minutes of playing it I had it lock up so I couldn't move or click on anything, misload multiple sprites (black squares around objects, a black vertical bar covering a significant portion of the screen, etc.), and I've had a very frustrating time trying to click on objects, many times the gold circle that shows you interactions is placed somewhere where it does nothing at all, or worse, chooses another nearby object or door. mogwai Member Mar 11, 2016 10 0 0 #17 mogwai, Jul 3, 2016 Initial thoughts after ~1 hour play time. I like the art style. A real throwback to the classic adventure games. The interface isn't the prettiest and can feel a little clunky, but I'm not finding it detracts from the enjoyment at the moment. The story has a decent step up. It's got me interested to see what happens at least. There's some cool and, as much as I hate lazily using this descriptor, 'Twin Peaks' Lynch-esque dream sequences. I think this is helped by the quality of writing. I don't know if I've just had my expectations dulled from many poorly written mobile games but the writing is top notch. Good thing too, as these games succeed or fail on the strength of their writing. There haven't been many puzzle so far or, at least, the ones that I have encountered are very simple. It's really just been the story that is pulling me along. I get the impression there will be more puzzles as the story progresses. I haven't had any crashes or bugs so far. My only real (minor) complains are the clunky inventory and some questionable pathfinding. At this point, I'd recommend giving it a go if you're a fan of classic adventure and/or dark crime stories with a touch of eerie fantasy. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
