We are unable to guarantee that the app will function on unsupported devices. ■No two players will experience the story in the same way■ Alongside DRAGON QUEST and FINAL FANTASY, the SaGa series is one of Square Enix’s most beloved. The first three titles were originally branded overseas under the “FINAL FANTASY LEGEND” moniker for Game Boy, and garnered critical acclaim for their complex yet compelling combat system. Romancing SaGa 2 takes the varied gameplay of other entries in the series and combines it with an open-ended free-form scenario system whose story is as vast as the world in which it plays out. The player takes the role of a succession of emperors, painting the history of the world with each and every action. Familiar series hallmarks such as formations and glimmers make a return in this unique title. ■Story■ It all begins with the song of a lone bard in a bustling pub. Great nations such as the Varennes Empire, which had once ensured peace throughout the world, stagnated and atrophied over the course of centuries, and sinister forces started emerging in outlying areas. Ere long, peace spiraled into war and the common folk spoke in hushed words of the Seven Heroes—historical figures who saved the world once and who, it was hoped, would do so again. ■Additional Elements■ ▷New dungeons ▷New classes: diviner and ninja ▷New Game+ ▷Autosave ▷UI specifically designed for smartphones Information Seller:SQUARE ENIX Genre:Adventure, Role Playing Release:May 25, 2016 Updated:Apr 01, 2020 Version:1.10 Size:388.9 MB TouchArcade Rating: User Rating: (10) Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #2 L.Lawliet, May 26, 2016 So much hype! In the Japanese App Store it gives the correct minimum device specs, but I can't read Japanese. It talks about iPhone 5, but I don't know if it's minimum recommended device or minimum device. I've never played it ( obviously) but the controls, menus and art are all very well done. I think there are definitely cheaper RPGs on the market but growing up with these games and being able to get a chance to play something i couldn't before is a real treat and it's worth the price to me. I'm sure it'll go on sale at some point anyway. luckystrikeguy Well-Known Member Sep 18, 2013 615 7 18 #13 luckystrikeguy, May 26, 2016 Yeah that's bogus. It's completely offline. Come on guys don't anyhow rate VirtualBoyFreak Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Apr 26, 2011 4,801 85 48 Spain #18 VirtualBoyFreak, May 26, 2016 I've watched all the intro, I've began playing a little bit and I'm enjoying every second of it. Can't tell on the story because I've just began, but I can talk about: - Graphics: they look gorgeous, in the old fashioned Final Fantasy but with crisp clear hi-res graphics. The intro is fantastic too, and the background very detailed. Pixel art fantastically remade. - Interface: it works flawlessly. The only "but" is that when you are in a battle and want to change the attack method, you have to click exactly on the text, or you'll perform the previous attack you had chosen. Luckily, there's a "back" button if you don't do it correctly. I also have to ge used to having the original specs of an equipment on the right and the result of equipping a new one on the left. It's kinda weird reading it from right to left. Finally, I can also say that it works great on my 4S and there's no interface issues, the game adapts to the 3.5' screen perfectly, and the lack of RAM of the device doesn't seem to affect performance. Very happy with my purchase. Only for the translation it's worth the price, so go imagine if it's worth it when they translated all the game and remade the graphics. It looks like Arte Piazza, the same developer responsible for the DS Dragon Quest ports on iOS, is probably why these graphics are so similar to those beautiful DQ ports. The interface, menus, and items are all a mystery to me. I've never played a Saga series game, and there doesn't seem to be any guided hand-holding through this maze of information. I've had one character die a couple times in battle to only be at full HP at the end. BUT LP drops with each death. So, I'm assuming all characters have lives like in a platformer. Is there any way to acquire more LP? And as far as buying new gear, I have no idea who will be able to use which piece of gear. OR if gear currently equipped is better/worse than gear I may purchase. Looks like I'm off to find an English strategy guide for this game because I'm used to the intuitive menus and information given by the DQ and FF series. So, this one will take some learning. As far as the story and freedom of moving around in each specified area, that's all been great for me in the first hour. It seems like a nice cross between DQ and FF so far. I hope I can get the hang of the interface. As far as I'm battles go, they don't explain how to use the battle interface. However, to change weapons or strategy, you tap the left or right arrows, and to change options within those categories, you swipe up or down. THEN you can tap anywhere on the screen to select the highlighted option of Attack, Sidewinder, etc. Hope that helps! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
