If you are familiar with The Horus Heresy, you will find new ways to explore it; if you are a newcomer, this game will teach you all about the characters, planets, campaigns and the complex machinery of war employed in this Epic struggle of Good and Evil. Up to four players may take control of one or more of the galaxy’s greatest heroes or most notorious villains. They are the most powerful beings in the Galaxy and their followers are legion. This is a digital board game based on the Talisman rule system and set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, during the cataclysmic events of the Horus Heresy. It’s a unique adaptation of Talisman that has been tailored specifically for digital platforms and scaled up exponentially, exploring not a kingdom but a whole galaxy in the 31st Millennium. No longer will you be fighting for the Crown of Command, but for the very future of humanity… - Command one of the eighteen Space Marine Legions that fought during the Horus Heresy - Play as one of eight of the galaxy’s greatest heroes or most notorious villains such as Roboute Guilliman or Angron - Multiplayer for up to 4 players - Challenge or team-up with your friends locally and online - Play against AI opponents - Various expansions are available adding new Warlords and Battle Sectors to the game. I am only 4 or 5 moves into a game against the AI, but I just clashed with one of the actual AI players and won the battle and stole his resources! Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 987 230 43 #4 Stronsay, May 10, 2016 It looks amazing, and actually runs on an ipad 4; marvellous. It's an extensive reimagining of the Talisman system. Everything and everyone has different names of course, and there are some minor rule mods. Anyone familiar with the original will be able to dive straight in. If not familiar with the game then it could take a while to understand. The usual tutorial is there and it all seems well explained. I'm all for buying additional content, but I always question the balance of games with purchasable currency. I'm not looking to derail the thread by any means - a simple answer one way or the other is all I'm looking for. (Been awhile, names might be off). Point being, this is a story about space marines fighting space marines, unless the devs decides to change the lore lol, to my knowledge, having read the books up to where Magnus the Red joins the fun (no spoilers here), there shouldn't be ANY of the 40k races anywhere near this game. I think they fight nothing but minor races in the books, metal spider things and some lizard humanoids. Read up on the battle of Istvaan IV, I wanna say, if you wanna find out how the military aspect of the Heresy kicks off, the Lexicanum (40k wiki) is a great source for lore. Keitch83 Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2010 226 0 0 #11 Keitch83, May 10, 2016 Played on my Nvidia shield for a little while now.Very well presented but I must say the board itself is not as clear or detailed as the original talisman. This is probably due to space setting and I guess this fits well into the 40k universe. The game itself is set to 4 players, no more, no less as it needs 2 good and 2 bad players battling together to get to the centre similar to original talisman. The IAPs currently involve just extra characters and the game works fine without needing them, there are no add on packs at the moment. If you enjoy 40k and the original Talisman then this works. ojtitus Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2010 3,228 5 38 Male Canton, Ohio #12 ojtitus, May 10, 2016 Last edited: May 10, 2016 I have been eagerly awaiting this beauty, instabuy. mzinn Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2014 770 0 16 #13 mzinn, May 10, 2016 Insta-bought # korossyl Well-Known Member Oct 10, 2013 267 0 16 #14 korossyl, May 10, 2016 This looks and plays AMAZING. Well worth the (sale) price. For those who have played the original Talisman... could someone talk about the functional differences, here? I see that there's now a "ranged" stat, which is new to me. Are Loyalist/Traitor the same as alignments before, or do they go deeper? And what are armies, allies, and legions? nosoup4crr Well-Known Member Apr 29, 2011 689 0 0 #15 nosoup4crr, May 10, 2016 Would anyone be willing to describe what this is, exactly? Because I can't tell. Is it battlefield/army strategy? Is it dungeon/party strat? Is it 4x? I have no clue. There is already a Talisman 40k adaption called Relic. I have it on the shelf at home. Looks like they have opted to use the Talisman name for brand awareness and move the setting to earlier in the lore/universe. Any imps from someone who owns the Relic board game? Are playing the villains in this like what was added with the Nemesis expansion? Tango Well-Known Member Sep 11, 2010 455 0 16 #20 Tango, May 11, 2016 Thought I saw somewhere you can play this asynchronous... Is that true?
