For those not familiar with that indie darling, it's basically a FPS with a cool gimmick: when you are not moving or shooting, time slows down to a crawl. That makes for a more tactical, almost puzzle-like shooter experience, one that, I would argue, is perfectly suited for mobile. Should make it clear that the game is pretty hardcore: I'm only 5 levels in and I've died a lot. Overall, though, the gameplay feels fair and most of my deaths have come from carelessness and/or bad planning. I should also note that I haven't played Superhot -- know it only by reputation -- so I can't say how close the Hot Trigger experience is. On it's own, though, it's pretty darn fun. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #3 squarezero, Apr 4, 2016 I posted this over the weekend, so there's a chance that it got missed by folks. In any event, I've had a chance to play further, and the game is still pretty darn impressive -- if a little short. Definitely one for the "premium-only" crowd. Pony Well-Known Member Sep 28, 2011 470 0 16 The Netherlands #4 Pony, Apr 5, 2016 Thank you for posting this and giving your feedback. Played an early demo of Superhot back in the days, and the game is freaking amazing. The current price of Superhot on PC puts me off because of it's short length. And even if this clone itself is short, I think 99 cents is barely even premium for that matter when looking at the screenshots and reading your feedback. So, this is a dream come true and therefor an instabuy! Surprised not more people here have shown any interest thus far. Either way, I will post my impressions here at some point as well. ^___^ squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #5 squarezero, Apr 5, 2016 Hope you enjoy it. I changed the title of the thread yesterday to try and get the attention of folks who know Superhot. Frankly, I'm curious to hear how it compares with its inspiration. LordShad0wz Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2014 4,280 1 38 #6 LordShad0wz, Apr 5, 2016 I've had this for a few weeks and I like it. It does get pretty tough but that's a good thing. The controls work perfectly too. Billy TheGreatEscaper Well-Known Member Oct 10, 2014 1,025 22 38 #7 TheGreatEscaper, Apr 5, 2016 Just bought. I'd noticed the thread a while back but I never usually show a lot of interest in clone-likes. If this one has good level design and brings some new things to the board than Super Hot I won't regret the purchase. Otherwise... proof21 Well-Known Member May 25, 2012 244 5 18 #8 proof21, Apr 5, 2016 It's different than Superhot. In Superhot, it's more like you're executing an action sequence in slow-mo with close and long range combat, and then watching it in normal speed after your done. This is more like like a straight forward shooter with a similar slow-mo mechanic. However this game is much more difficult than Superhot right off the bat, because the bullets in that game stand still in mid air when your not moving, in this game, they move pretty fast even when you're not moving, so you will be getting hit if you're not super careful, whereas in Superhot you have more time to maneuver. When I first played Superhot I was amazed and really felt like I was playing something with a new and fresh mechanic, plus the whole concept and story were really original. I'm not getting the same vibe with this, it's totally different other than the time stopping when your not moving part. Also to be noted , long range aiming is really annoying in this game. If you're looking for a Superhot clone, you will not find it here. Superhot is on Android I believe, so there's a big chance it will be coming to IOS soon, in that case I would advise to wait for that. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #9 squarezero, Apr 6, 2016 I need to pick up Superhot for my Mac so I can see the differences first hand, but what you are describing doesn't gel with the reviews I've read or the videos I've seen. As far as i understand it, in Superhot times moves when you are moving, and slows down to a crawl when you are not -- exactly like Hot Trigger. I would say that the mechanic feels fresh here, at least compared with other FPS. As I mentioned before, it also feels like a great fit for a touchscreen. As far as long range aiming -- well, it should be difficult, though I agree that the aiming controls are a tad sensitive. I can't find any evidence that Superhot is out on Android, at least legitimately. And I haven't heard of any plans for an iOS version. currymutton Well-Known Member Oct 16, 2008 4,430 1 0 #10 currymutton, Apr 6, 2016 Played it for 6 missions. Never played the game drawn inspiration from. Game is very short. Each level completion time and total 12 missions. The graphics are great! Control is alright (and need of MFi controller support is written all over it) Game play is quite fresh and very enjoyable. Love the point one-shot kill, one weapon at a time and the need to duck. Downside: it is a battery drainer. proof21 Well-Known Member May 25, 2012 244 5 18 #11 proof21, Apr 6, 2016 This game has a similar slow-mo mechanic, but people were calling it a clone of Superhot, which isn't accurate at all. Like the devs themselves said this is "Inspired" which I can totally agree with. The Slo-Mo mechanic is much more forgiving in Superhot, is what I wanted to say, but yes they are very similar if not almost exactly. In Superhot it was like you were methodically creating a violent action sequence from a hard-boiled type film and then watching it unwind. However this game feels much more traditional in that regard, and is not nearly as stylish. Writing this just made me want to fire up some Superhot......SUPER HOT! coolpepper43 ð® Spam Police ð Aug 31, 2012 4,615 7 38 On the toilet #12 coolpepper43, Apr 6, 2016 I thought it was pretty good, not great. Definitely the best SH "clone" on the app store that i've played. I'm only 3 levels so it might be too early to judge. Also, i'm not fully connecting with the controls. I wish they had a separate sensitivity slider for movement and panning. Luciano1084 Well-Known Member May 8, 2014 1,515 0 36 #13 Luciano1084, Apr 6, 2016 Definitely see the superhot influence.. Completed the first 3 levels and felt the game overall was quite polished and well-executed. My only wish is for a mode where the placement of enemies is randomized. Having the map randomized (or randomly chosen) would be icing on the cake. rezn Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Mar 8, 2014 862 6 18 Male Coder/Keyer in medical ICD 10 Reno, NV #15 rezn, Apr 6, 2016 SUPERHOT is one tough ass game. The patience you need to have with the slow-mo moments makes me a tad nutty. However this looks pretty damn sweet. And drawn inspiration is can count for some pretty great games.
