Couldn't find a thread for this game, but if there is one already, please feel free to close this one and direct me to the other one.... Anyway, just wanted to see if there are other games similar in style/genre that people could recommend? I find that I am actually quite enjoying the managing of resources by swiping left and right and upgrading, training, etc (which I'm not sure why the developer doesn't show screenshots for which are more appealing than the artwork used for the App Store) all while having an underlying text-driven story line going on. Not sure what genre this type of game is classified as, however, but I feel like there must be other similar games out there I can explore. Wrath Well-Known Member May 26, 2011 480 9 18 Seattle #4 Wrath, Apr 1, 2016 So far, it's been text only - not sure if that will change at all once I send out people to explore the castle or not - I'm still at the point of resource gathering (resources, materials, buildings, training troops, etc). I bought the game yesterday at $.99 and then it appears it went on sale for free today, but not sure if that was temporary price reduction or not. PBSNellie Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2013 1,381 168 63 Southern CA #5 PBSNellie, Apr 1, 2016 Thanks. Let me know what you find out..I'd be willing to buy it if it turns into a "real" dungeon, so to speak. You have to buy diamonds and there are tons of other purchases including the scrolls you need to return to town from the dungeons. Another purchase is a special unit for 300 diamonds (three bucks) that is one time use. The guy dies it's over. Oh yeah you can bring him back to life in the cemetery with karma no idea how to get that my guess... More diamonds. If you pay three bucks for a unit you should be able to use it as often as you like. I wasted ten bucks on this game trust me it's not worth it. @nellie the game is mostly resource clicking like in a dark room the enemy encounters in the dungeons are simple turn based combat, traveling the dungeon is just clicking on various points on a map to travel to areas. I have no problem putting money down on some stuff to support the efforts that went into the game but I won't be sucked dry just for progression or a treadmill. I will give it a shot but if I smell pay for progression I am moving on. Themagicjesus Well-Known Member Sep 2, 2012 140 0 0 #8 Themagicjesus, Apr 1, 2016 You blew ten bucks on this game? Even when I went to check out resurrecting a dead unit and did not have enough karma, it didn't prompt to purchase anything - it appears from my experience thus far that they stay there until you obtain enough karma if you want - but I don't know if that's the case for the two units available for purchase (the frost dragon or the dragonkin). (FYI - you obtain karma by capturing a statute and when you visit it again you can collect karma from it. I've also been able to gather portal scrolls on the map, so haven't been prompted to purchase any of those yet.) The in-app purchases I see include 3 diff expansion packs, 3 diff productivity boosts, 2 diff coin packs, 2 diff units and a portal scroll pack - - but again, nothing required, from what I can tell. Repulsa Well-Known Member Jul 3, 2015 1,584 81 48 #11 Repulsa, Apr 7, 2016 The purchasable units can be resurrected at the graveyard, my beef with this game is that I think if you pay three bucks for those units you should be able to rehire them whenever you want. Otherwise, this game is not too bad, but I think people will find it gets difficult to a point where they will consider buying the special units and nobody is going to repeatedly pay three bucks to hire them. Repulsa Well-Known Member Jul 3, 2015 1,584 81 48 #12 Repulsa, Apr 12, 2016 So I can admit when I'm wrong. my previous judgements were a little harsh. I have been giving this game some time and I see that you can progress nicely without any need to have to spend extra money. I have however bought all the expansions, an ice dragon and several of the upgrades. Once you get to the point where your back pack is expanded a bit you can take enough bread to really move around without running out. I have not felt the need for a portal scroll as I can always make it back with tons of bread to spare. As someone else pointed out, occasionally someone will give you one in game. As far as Gold, I can use my craftsmen to make 100000 in a fairly short amount of time. Turn off all your craftsmen but the wheat, bread, gold maker and smelter and throw everyone into those occupations for awhile Now the bit about karma. It's a little confusing and hard before you get to the point where you can generate it, but if you free the goddess statue ( due north from the dungeon start point) you can collect 4 there every time you enter the dungeon. Once you get towards the end of the first level you get to a point where you can craft tons of it for a little gold. No it is not an IAP. And although I still think for three bucks you should be able to hire your ice dragon whenever you want, you can resurrect any unit whenever they die for karma. If your entire party dies, turn off all your workers but what is needed to generate karma until you have enough to go resurrect everyone. I am a huge fan of the resource gathering/expanding of in a dark room and this combines it with an old school dungeon crawler. I am really enjoying this game now, and I'm glad I gave it another chance. Wrath Well-Known Member May 26, 2011 480 9 18 Seattle #13 Wrath, Apr 12, 2016 Yeah, that's kinda been my experience, as well - I'm still playing it and enjoying it quite thoroughly. Good advice for new players I think is to work on expanding your backpack first because you will need it to hold plenty of bread - it deducts bread for moving about the map and also during battles. (However, if you occupy a hut you can always stop by later when you are low on bread and get more without exiting the map.) Now that I have figured out how to have a party of at least 4 members, the battles make me feel much more confident, lol. I did buy an IAP dragon because, well, who doesn't want a dragon?! Well worth it, plus I think the developer did a really nice job with this game - it's been fun unlocking new buildings, new items to craft, adding skills to recruits, etc. I didn't realize we can craft karma, however, so that's something I need to discover, thanks for the tip!
