No timers or nagging to buy extra lives. Almost feels like a premium title to me. JohnnyClash Well-Known Member Mar 11, 2016 611 1 0 #4 JohnnyClash, Mar 31, 2016 While the puzzle RPG genre has been hashed and rehashed (aka, I'm a bit over it) - I find this title to be quite enjoyable.. Funny dialogue, excellent graphics, ugly-cute monsters, clever upgrade system, enjoyable gameplay... Looking forward to spending some more time with this one.. AppUnwrapper Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2011 4,062 3 0 http://www.appunwrapper.com/escape-games/ #5 AppUnwrapper, Mar 31, 2016 I'm afraid to get sucked into this. It's super easy now, but I see power-ups and equipment are all bought for a lot of gold, that I imagine will just keep ramping up. So there will always be that IAP carrot dangling. Man...so wish it could have been premium. If I do give into these hanging orange veggies, it will only be to support the devs a bit. Otherwise, I think they did a fine job with going freemium. After all, they got me into the door, and I would not have spent money on the entry price of a premium match 3. And.. They are making (a bit) of money from me already... I have been watching the videos that double my coin earnings after each run, which is completely optional and is not pushed into my face by any means.. AppUnwrapper Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2011 4,062 3 0 http://www.appunwrapper.com/escape-games/ #8 AppUnwrapper, Mar 31, 2016 I've bought plenty of premium match-3's, but clearly I'm in the minority since so few devs are willing to go there. I never have and never will spend money on consumable IAPs. I'm also turned off by games that let you buy unlimited power-ups using gold (translate: cash). Since this doesn't seem to have any competitive aspect to it and there's just a story mode, no endless mode, I'll probably play it until it feels like it's trying to get me to buy IAP. If it had been an endless game with leaderboards, I'd have deleted it already. JohnnyClash Well-Known Member Mar 11, 2016 611 1 0 #9 JohnnyClash, Mar 31, 2016 Yeah, I am with you on that one.. I can count on one hand the consumable iap's that I have purchased.. A 'starter pack' or 30 day gem pack is about my limit, and these are very few and far between.. I will also, most likely, delete this game at the same point that you mentioned.. But until then, I will go for the ride and watch a few quick commercials along the way.. lol.. Games like this are like cheap dime-store novels to me.. Tasty, fun while they last, disposable, and always replaced at some point with something else.. I am not hating on this title by any means, though.. I do enjoy its mechanics and humor.. AppUnwrapper Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2011 4,062 3 0 http://www.appunwrapper.com/escape-games/ #10 AppUnwrapper, Mar 31, 2016 So far, the mechanics seem very simple, nothing too deep. Although it's possible the game is just taking it's time getting to the good stuff, baby steps like most of these. I do like the humor and story a lot more than, say, Hero Emblems'. I would not have stuck with Hero Emblems just for the story, but this I might. Will see if the rest of it holds my attention, though. But a free hint for you Level 30, the black knight has a weakness, its a weapon that rhymes with tub……. And sometimes you just need to retry and get a better spread of game pieces, sometimes its just up to fate! ramzarules Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2014 2,112 128 63 Greece #16 ramzarules, Mar 31, 2016 ohh a new match 3 rpg! and it looks humorous and well made! trying for sure! Of course there is nothing stopping you buying up a heap of gold and going on a spending spree -The levels do get challenging, but the grading system has been done to make it slowly escalate in challenge as your skill as a player increases -Using shields to block attacks, choosing attacks that are strong against an enemy weakness, good timing, and sometimes just good luck are all you need AppUnwrapper Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2011 4,062 3 0 http://www.appunwrapper.com/escape-games/ #19 AppUnwrapper, Mar 31, 2016 Last edited: Mar 31, 2016 Yeah, but there's no quick "retry" -- I got tired of having to tap through all the same dialogue every time I try again. And maybe there's an imbalance/flaw in the game if "sometimes you need to restart to get lucky" is the answer? The game was super easy for most of it till now, and getting hit with a boss like this just feels like I'm meant to buy my way out of it. That's the problem with games with IAP. You never know where something's just challenging for fun vs. made near impossible to get you to spend money. I don't know what you're talking about that rhymes with tub. Are you referring to a specific element? The only thing the game taught me (unless I missed it) is that fire is strong against poison. I've no idea about the rest. I think ice is strong against fire just from trying it, but that seems odd. I don't even know what purple is supposed to be (lightning?), so I haven't figured out what its weakness is. And I've gotten boards where I start with a lot of hearts and/or shields and have to waste them just to get more tiles. And then of course when I need shields, I have none. This is where the board starts to feel too small, like I don't have much choice in the matter. It's not "should I use poison or fire?" here -- it's "I better use whatever the board gave me or I won't be able to do anything.
