My game Beware the Banjax is out now! It's a procedurally-generated arena based frag 'em up with a unique (I think?) split-screen 2 layer mode, allowing you to go head-to-head with a friend on the same device, for an incredibly intense 2-player experience. It has Game Center achievements and leaderboard for 1-Player mode. I have tons of ideas for features to add to the game, extra weapons, characters, level-pacs etc. Let me know what you'd like to see in the comments below, and I'm happy to answer any questions. Before I purchase, does the game force Gamecenter to load first because I have the Gamecenter bug. It would make the game inoperable for me. If it doesn't I'll hit the buy button and give the game a proper sit down and review. Billy yojimbo Well-Known Member Jan 23, 2013 86 0 6 #3 yojimbo, Mar 20, 2016 @LoardShad0wz Yes, it does load Gamecenter on launch. I hadn't heard of the Gamecenter bug before now, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm just going to do some research on it. Do you know whether other games are adding workarounds for the bug? I guess I could add a Gamecenter on/off switch to the settings. The dev fixed it right away. Another is Chased by the sun. Which is also in this forum. Until you make it so Gamecenter doesn't auto load a ton of players won't be able to play and unfortunately they will blame you and not Applle which is where the blame needs to go. Definitely check out chrome death. The dev is a nice guy and communicative I guarantee he'll help you. Please keep this post updated. As soon as you have it fixed I'll purchase your game. Promise. If you or anyone else reading would be prepared to beta test a version that offers an option to opt out of Game Center, then PM me an email address and I'll add you to the beta program. I'm a little worried that the game engine invokes Game Center regardless of whether my code does, so the fix might take a while to sort out. But it would be great to test this out with confirmed carriers of the iOS 9 Game Center bug! Let's do this! And there's definitely a way around it. The two games I listed have successfully done it. Really talk to the dev of Chrome Death he shot me a beta and had it fixed in less than a few hours. It still uses Gamecenter too for those it still works for. It's not your fault. It's Apples for letting the problem go on and then telling devs to put Gamecenter front and center. It's you that gets the headaches and the complaints. What an awesomely helpful community Touch Arcade is! I'm aiming to push an initial attempt at a fix sometime in the next few hours. This will add an extra toggle button to the splash screen. By default, the toggle reads "Game Center: ON". Press this to toggle it to "Game Center: OFF", and then your preference will be saved, and my code won't invoke Game Center. I'm not sure whether this will fix it though, as I have a feeling that the game engine is invoking Game Center. If this is the case, then a fix will take a little while longer to implement, as I'll have to customize the game engine source code. So, apologies in advance is this first patch doesn't fix the issue. I'm sure that by the 2nd or 3rd patch we'll have it sorted. Well, I guess that's what beta-testing is for! Thanks again to all those who have contacted me so far, and any other "iOS Game Center bug"-sufferers out there who'd like to beta-test the patch, do drop me a PM with your email. Your fix works perfectly. It's a go. However two things. Please screen rotation. I need the screen to rotate. It's hard for me to play with it backwards like this while I'm charging the device. Second how do I change the controls? I wish the fire was linked to the right stick so you can look and fire at the sametime. Other than this I love the game. Billy cbos0503 Well-Known Member May 9, 2015 122 1 18 #12 cbos0503, Mar 22, 2016 Beta works for me as well. Although I'm not able to get it to not load regardless of the game center option I choose. I assume that setting GC to ON would fail to load the game. Nice concept being able to go head to head on the same device. The sensitivity seems a little to high for me. Is there a way to adjust it? yojimbo Well-Known Member Jan 23, 2013 86 0 6 #13 yojimbo, Mar 22, 2016 That's great that you're not getting the Game Center bug with that build, thanks to both of you, and all the beta testers, for your help on this one. I'll push that patch out. I'll look into this. GC does seem to be working with this build (for those w/o the GC bug). yojimbo Well-Known Member Jan 23, 2013 86 0 6 #14 yojimbo, Mar 22, 2016 Last edited: Mar 22, 2016 Thanks for your support! Regarding the screen rotation, currently it's locked to landscape_left or (on iPad only) portrait (regular way up). The reason for this is that in the middle of a head-to-head 2-player tournament where the device is being held relatively flat, it was too easy for the orientation to switch. Are you saying that it would be easier for your charging solution if it was landscape_right rather than _left? Re controls, when you hit the pause button next to the status bar, you have the choice of 3 control layouts that you can swipe between. I agree that having the fire linked to the right stick is "traditional" for iOS twin-stick shooters, but I found it didn't work so well with Banjax, because the ordinance bounces off the walls, and you're encouraged to play with "Friendly Fire" set to "ON" (you get x2 points with it on), to try to add an extra strategic element to the play. When fire was linked to the 2nd stick, it was too easy to hit yourself. So as a compromise, it's "touch anywhere else to fire" so you can at least do a bit of strafing. I'll experiment with adding a 4th control layout with fire linked to the stick. Thanks, glad you like it! A sensitivity setting is an excellent idea, I'll add that to the roadmap. yojimbo Well-Known Member Jan 23, 2013 86 0 6 #15 yojimbo, Mar 24, 2016 OK, the version that allows you to opt out of Game Center has now been submitted to App Store review. It also fixes a bug where in 1-player mode, the previously saved setting for camera view wasn't respected. Right, with the hot fixes out of the way, I can focus on adding more content! What would you like to see added to the game? Currently I'm thinking: More game modes, eg capture the flag Level and character packs (skins) More weapons (proximity mine) Maze sections with different physics properties (eg ice, sticky areas) Let me know what you'd like to see in the game next! yojimbo Well-Known Member Jan 23, 2013 86 0 6 #16 yojimbo, Mar 29, 2016 Banjax v1.2 is out in the App Store now.
