I haven`t played it yet for very long so I can only comment about the first couple of Missions InGame and how the hole Game does feel and behave so far. First at all Winterstate does require from your Device to be always Online and I had in two Gameplay Rounds that I have played so far the Game twice an "disconnect" from the Server where I couldn`t keep playing the Game any longer till the Game had reconnected to their Server. So no Offline Modus here! I don't want to spoil too much of the Story so i will leave instead the Teaser Trailer of the Game speak for itself: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel With a Team of armed to the teeth specialist you drive around with your Convoy on the InGame Map and do help out those that are in need while meanwhile upgrade your own Team from time to time with better equipment and or new Vehicles as soon as those get`s available for you with a new Level Up or because you have finished up one of the Story Mission InGame or simple try to sell goods that you might have collected from freed farms that do generate over time goods that you can collect and then sale . Your Convoy does have different specialist that have their Pro/Cons and it`s up to you how you use those together with different Car Classes and if you try to create a powerful Strike Team that focus complete on heavy Attacks but are low if it comes to it Movement Speed or if you prefer a fast Strike Team that doesn`t do much Damage but is capeable of dodging Rockets and other Attacks that are slow and therefore can easily be avoided if your Cars are fast enough. The different Car Classes in the Game are as following: The fights so far InGame were most of the time on smaller Maps where you would often encounter the Mobs in less then a Minute and felt so far always like Tutorials Missions where the Game wanted to explain you how a new Car Class is working without any InGame Text that does actually explain you how things are done in the Game. Some might like it while other might hate it but so far I did enjoy playing every new Car Class very much and knew straight from the beginning how I should use a new Class to make the most out of it. After the first hour with the Game I like it so far and look forward to play the other Car Classes too or see what the best Mix would be or what new Members my Convoy might get over time. There is currently no Launch Date set but considering that the last Update did get the following note I consider that it shouldn`t be to far awayto launch around the Globe: NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #3 NOEN, Mar 15, 2016 Oh, this is back on the AppStore again? They pulled it for awhile. I played it awhile back and really dug it. Definitely worth a peek of you are "Canadian". RTS? RTS-adjacent? Depth of strategy, is there any noticeable such to the battles? Sanuku Well-Known Member Jun 14, 2009 11,954 4 38 Austria http://www.touchgameplay.com #7 Sanuku, Mar 16, 2016 More of the basic "Paper, Scissors, Stone" Gameplay then actually an RTS. With the right Car Class and the right Upgrades that you get with each Level Upgrade more and more access to your Cars are becoming pretty much powerfull. Since I haven`t yet reached the Level where you gain access to the Multiplayer I can`t tell you how much knowledge is needed to survive on the real Battlefield since so far the strategy was mostly limited to teach you the Core Gameplay Mechanics of the Game before making you the first step into the Online Multiplayer. Noomen Well-Known Member Sep 14, 2014 68 0 6 #8 Noomen, Mar 16, 2016 The one millionth CoC clone. This is becoming ridiculous. gmattergames Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2013 607 42 28 #9 gmattergames, Mar 16, 2016 Last edited: Mar 16, 2016 Not a CoC clone. While it is ftp, uses multiple currencies and energy system, it is actually fairly unique. Always love the drag/draw line tactical mechanic. The graphics are great; the maps, models and effects, triple-A. As far as the game, too early to tell, ten missions in and progression is still predetermined. Reminds me of an old AppleII game: Steve Jacksons Car Wars; build your convoy and make your way around the US collecting supplies, trading, upgrading, etc. So far so good, worth a shot if you can stomach FTP. coloncruncher Well-Known Member Mar 14, 2016 76 2 8 #10 coloncruncher, Mar 16, 2016 This isn't meant as an attack, more of a general question. When is a game considered a clone, and when is it considered to just simply share a genre? For example Final Fantasy isn't considered to be a clone of Drangon Warrior(Quest). To me a clone is when it is almost identical (graphics, menu layout, and gameplay). I think Clash of Clans invented a popular genre, but that doesn't necessarily make these other game clones, in fact they sometimes improve upon the original concept. If we only played games that didn't fit in any other genres we wouldn't have much to play. NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #11 NOEN, Mar 16, 2016 FYI, this is out of soft launch I'm guessing. It's in the US App Store now. Noomen Well-Known Member Sep 14, 2014 68 0 6 #12 Noomen, Mar 16, 2016 As far as I am concerned any multiplayer game with base raiding mechanics, extra currencies, and waiting times is, to me, a CoC clone. Supercell were definitely not the ones who invented this mechanics, but they have definitely become the reference and are the ones who made it famous. That's how I see it. I hate multiplayer games where you can easily get plundered by some bully and lose a whole week of playing just because someone needed an ego boost. Why not go around and leave crappy commenta like "its another CoC clone", under every game that has a multiplayer option. I just watched the video of this game on the App Store and it looks really cool. I also couldn't find one single frame of gameplay that looked anything like CoC Tinsel Well-Known Member Dec 8, 2008 508 5 18 #19 Tinsel, Mar 19, 2016 Wow I'm surprised this game isn't getting more attention. This game is fantastic (and as far from a CoC clone as, say, Angry Birds, to pick an app everyone will know). The combat reminds me of Crimson: Steam Pirates (another underrated gem IMHO), and the overworld map you use has some neat boardgame-like effects (weather) and also some neat trading opportunities. I've only played it a few hours now, but so far I haven't felt the need to buy anything (the IAP seems to be used ONLY for "speeding things up"). I might buy some anyway because this is a really good game. vonknut Well-Known Member Dec 5, 2013 220 3 18 #20 vonknut, Mar 30, 2016 Relly like it so far. God tactical combat, loots of choices and open map. Iap heavy, but only for speeding up. So no paywall so far (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
